Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

But you're presenting this as something that hadn't been foreseen.

I'm not surprised at anything I've seen from the democrats over the last few months. Fact is, Biden is very old. So is Trump. I mean, it would be beyond the pale if either party hasn't got plans they can put in place straight away in case either of them were to pass away in their sleep.

We've seen a massive decline in Biden's mental prowess over the last few months. I'm sure the Dem top brass had already asked him to step aside before going public as they have done. I am 100% sure he will step down and I'm sure as soon as he does step down or announce his intention to retire at the end of his term, you'll see the democrats plan swing into action.

The Republicans are celebrating like the next four months are going to be some sort of coronation party.

    Best of luck with that.

The answer is none of course. That poster does the usual MAGA talking points (i.e. mistruths) as some sort of evidence of how good Trump was as president when by all objective measures he was a disaster.

He states that he will end the Ukraine war but doesn't go into details as to how... I'll tell you how, by giving Putin everything he wants and letting Russia away with the slaughter of men, women and children. If the leaders in the 1940s had the same approach as Trump and maga the entirety of Europe would've under German rule to this day.

Also Trumps attitude to nato is frankly dangerous. So he gives Putin everything he wants in Ukraine and then what? Do you think Putin doesn't have designs on more of Europe especially with such a Trump emboldening him and with an administration who will let him away with anything.

Posters explained each item in excruciating detail and you still denied reality in the COVID cases.

    you first asked this:

Can you tell me how many of Biden's political opponents have been locked up or facing jail at this point?

    My answer was

0/1 depending if you think trump will go to jail for the fraud he committed before being president (and kept delaying/appealing the case till recently).

You then claimed not to understand this and said I was drunk.

You have now said 1/1 as you seem to think trump is going to jail.

Anyway, I bet you thought your teachers were drunk as well. I wish you well as this also goes over your head.

Why would they be worried when all the signs are he's going to win, especially if Biden stays in the race?

Ah, gimme a break. I agree with you on the "if he hadn't turned his head" point as self-evident. As for assuming I'm overcome with blind hatred every time I see the man, No, your assumption is incorrect. I just know a person of rotten character unfit for office when I see one.

I'm reminded each time I see him that the GOP turned its back on it's own people and chose a experienced confidence-trickster from TV-land to stand for election using their party as a vehicle, bring this upon itself. Even he thought the Dems weren't suitable for the takeover he - and his family - have planned and managed to pull off on the GOP, as proven by his switching his membership from the Dems to the GOP back before his election.

The fact that his would-be assassin was a member of the GOP was probably an unpleasant surprise for Trump and the GOP into the bargain. If Trump gets elected, I wouldn't be at all surprised if there's an attempt by his family to revamp the membership system in the GOP to ensure some form of loyalty to the party from it's members, instead of harbouring would-be assassins of the GOP executive, however much each state has it's own individual GOP party system.

I don't know Aloisious, lot of blind hatred in that post!!!

Why are you surprised though, this is what he does, from an appearance in Home Alone to this, he craves media attention and thinks this is how the world works…..his social media obsession etc, this is him 100 percent.

I love the way you point to Trumps legal woes due to being Bidens opponent. He's not facing jail because he is Bidens opponent, he is facing jail for being a scumbag criminal. In fact if he was anyone else he would be in jail already. Have you any comment on Bidens own son being convicted also? How did that happen if Biden can just control the legal system to is will?

It's no surprise that maga types look up to someone who was found liable for sexual abuse in a civil court and convicted of fraud in a criminal court. They love the "hard man" type despite the fact that Trump is a gutless coward who dodged the draft and never worked a day in his life.

Umm, blind hatred every time I see the man. Please try better….

Funny how we are witnessing in real time the death of the declared leader of the free world. If Trump gets elected, the US will be subsumed by China and Russia. Scary for most people, to be honest.

Well, you were trying to insinuate that Trump is some kind of Hitler, that is blind hatred.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,535 ✭✭✭Silentcorner

Ya, the timing of the legal woes are what is interesting…if he had retired from politics do you think he would be facing 70 years in jail?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,456 ✭✭✭Flaneur OBrien

    Yes, of course.

If you break the law, there's repercussions. Do you think he should be exempt from prosecution?

Psst he also said he was wrong!

No need to whisper like Joe….just sayin!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,456 ✭✭✭Flaneur OBrien

Because he wanted a chance to be VP? He was a self declared, "Never Trumper". I wonder what changed his mind 🤔

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,105 ✭✭✭✭everlast75

He only said he was wrong when he found out he could profit by doing so.

That doesn't mean he changed his mind. That means he is a craven liar.

Speaking of which, you said trump was changed by the "near assassination".

I am awaiting proof of this, but in the meantime, spotted someone else who said the same.

Comrade Carlson! Another out and out liar.

You are in esteemed company for sure.

Not at all. Take the Fraud case. It only happened as a result of attempting to pay hush money to a porn star so it wouldn't impact his first campaign. Investigations take a long time and it is also quite difficult to bring a criminal case against a sitting president.

Other offenses were commited during or after his term so once more the time line is fine. Look at his history.

He's been investigated nearly as many times as he's been bankrupt over the years*.

*obvious exaggeration to make the point

Moi, insinuate that Trump is some kind of Hitler, never… That was something JD Vance stated about him.

The beauty of this debating chamber is that it can be extended ad infinitum by the admins, never running out of space unless the admins feel contributions are pointless.

And what happens when he wins? Anyone who thinks Trump puts anything other than than himself first is delusional. He still thinks he was robbed of the last election, turned to the most idiotic lawyers he could find to prove he lost, has surrounded himself by boot lickers, demands loyalty and offers none, cultivated people like that bunch of very special people who turned up on January 6th and is starting to worm his family into the GOP. There's a good chance he will win, but after a while it won't be the GOP of their grandfathers.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,535 ✭✭✭Silentcorner

I was myself, plenty of people change their minds.

As a poster pointed out, people go from Democrat to Republican quiet a bit, but very few go the other way.

He was the darling of Hollywood at the time, his book was being celebrated, a movie based on his book was in production around that time…as anyone in that world knows, if you even hint at being a conservative you get blacklisted.

It took a lot of courage to vocally change his view. That would have come at huge personal cost. But if you have read his book, or even watched the movie, you will know that he is an extraordinary guy, an extraordinary life and journey.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,456 ✭✭✭Flaneur OBrien

Utter nonsense. Darling of Hollywood? In 2016?

Which conservative was/is blacklisted for being a conservative?

He ran because someone made fun of him at a white house dinner and his sociopathic ego couldn't handle it.

I've read accounts that he didn't want to win. His family didn't want him to win. None of that would surprise me. He's only running now as it's the only way he'll stay out of jail, and he's terrified about that.

On the Special Prosecutor front, Hunter Bidens legal team have submitted applications to have the current charges against him dismissed on the basis of Judge Cannon's ruling that Special Counsel Smith was not properly legally appointed to the job as the SC over Bidens case. Bidens legal team are also using the same grounds to appeal his conviction of lying about his drug use when purchasing a fire-arm as another SC [David Weiss] was appointed using the authority Judge Cannon ruled as legally unconstitutional. SC Smith is appealing Judge Cannon's ruling. His legal team have also included Justice Clarence Thomas of the SCOTUS somewhere in their appeal.

And who organized a scheme to disenfranchise the American electorate backed up by a mob of violent goons.

He is a traitor to the public on that score and has not yet met his just punishment.

Sympathy is scarce on that account except among those who find common cause with the degenerate.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,788 ✭✭✭✭Loafing Oaf

Much the same as happened the last time I'd predict. I don't follow American politics that closely, but my memory is he governed pretty much as a mainstream republican and somehow didn't get round to doing a lot of the far-out populist stuff he promised on the campaign trail.

Andreally what else would you expect from a lazy man who cares little for the practicalities of government and as you say is all about looking after number one. He was never going to shake things up in any substantial way because that takes too much effort and brainpower…

You are crossing your wires there….we were talking about Vance.

He was the darling of Hollywood, they made a movie based on his life!!!!!

Conservatives have been complaining for years about being blacklisted in Hollywood, like Academia.

So you believe he didn't want to run the first time but he ran because someone insulted him at a dinner, and is only running this time to stay out of jail!! How does that make sense in your head?

  • Registered Users Posts: 820 ✭✭✭Detritus70

It's called paying attention, being aware of history and having basic observational skills.

And not just the typical "Hurr Durr nothing to see here" gaslighting crap by his "I'm not a Trump supporter, but!" supporters.
