Electric heater in ensuite

In relation to an apt which is rented out we had a recent inspection, the result of which was we were informed that there should be a heater

in the ensuite, (there is already a wall mounted heater in main bathroom). Thru the letting agent we received a quote for the work which

including Vat would come to over €1000. I believe it involves running a cable back to the consumer unit so considerable labour involved.

There was also a mention of certification required by the council which can cost around €300, (included in the quote).

Just wondering if anyone has any experience or knowledge of similar and does this quote seem reasonable.

A RECI cert is required. I wonder if this is what is meant

if it’s the council then you’d probably require certification for heater installation and a periodic inspection report for the entire apartment also

Safe Electric seem to be the official authority in these matters. On their website they list different types of what they call

"completion certificates". But how does a charge of €300 arise and to whom is it paid?

it’s paid to the electrical contractor who comes out to test the installation. It’s most likely that it’s a periodic inspection report that the council requires

But I imagine that would be an inspection of the total electrical installation. In this case its only to inspect a fan heater

in an ensuite, see that its correctly positioned and properly cabled to the consumer unit. Hardly more than 15 minutes

work surely?

is it just for the heater or entire installation
