I'm going to build a 600 x 600 inspection chamber for a 18 inch storm water pipe. I have dug down at each side of the pipe and poured two strips of concrete 6 inches thick. There will be around 5 courses of block on flat to bring it back to ground level. Is 6 inches thick enough for the base of the block work?

Hi, what traffic will be expected over the drain, foot, car or commercial? That's the deciding factor.

No traffic, just the weight of the blocks.

Then a bare minimum foundation should be fine as long as the soil has been removed and there is some type of compacted stone base.
