UniFi 6 lite issue

Hi all,

I recently converted my attic and have a Cat6 cable going from an Eir router to the attic space (soon to be office) I have a UniFi 6 lite booster but it does not seem to come on even if connected with a short cable to the router. Do I need a power injector for the booster to work or am I missing something else?

Yes they are powered by POE which I have never seen on an ISP router. You need either a POE injector or a POE switch (should you require additional wired connections in the attic).

The Eir router doesn't provide any power over the ethernet ports so it won't come on at all.

Was there any power block with the Unifi 6 Lite?
With two ethernet ports on it?
One of them would provide power to the AP (POE) and the other one is to be plugged into the router (LAN).

Where did you get the access point? They should be able to provide a power supply and they're not expensive.

Make sure not to try to pick an old one up on adverts without checking the voltage.
The old ones used a 24V passive standard and won't work properly - the newer ones provide 48V or so.

Thanks for the replies, no injector came with the AP just the unit itself and mounts. For your replies and a bit more research on the net I have ordered a PoE injector and should be able to continue with the set up when it arrives.
