Nice place to stroll around, there's a bell tower with a nice climb and view from the top, recommend the boat trip across to Ugljan island, only 20min journey and a great spot for a stroll and swim. I found Zadar very crowded in august. the streets, side streets, down by the sea organ and promenade were so busy. Although if you're going soon it might not be too bad.

We're literally going there next week. Will hire a car and plan to go to plitvice lakes national park one day. Its about 1.5h away, but reviews say its worth it.

Recently back.. The Lakes park is worth it….
It looks like something made by Disney… So beautiful it looks man made…..

The entrance fee is pricey enough, but you could go in there free..

We stayed in Petrcane a few years ago and really enjoyed it. Only a few miles outside Zadar and easy driving with a hired car. Plitvice Lakes are worth the trip but probably best go early before big tour groups arrive as it can get busy on the boardwalks. We walked the opposite way round to the recommended routes so didnt get stuck behind big crowds.

Hiking in Paklenica was good too if you're into that.

We flew into Pula, and stayed there for a while too, and then flew home from Zadar. Some lovely places en route between the two
