Ya, that hour was garbage. Poor coverage, poor sound.

Rory's moved to -4 after a birdie on 3. Great up and down from the bunker.

Aberg has had a couple of lucky breaks on his drives for the past 2 holes.

Just missed the bunker and horrible desert grass on 2. And he's gotten relief on 3 after going over by the grandstand, which gave him a way better lie than he would otherwise have had. Still didn't play the next shot well though.

But Aberg's made a birdie despite this. Just about fell into the hole at the death, lucky ######!

And Bryson missed his gimme putt for birdie. No way you would have said that's how it would have work out after both players had played 2 shots each on that hole. Aberg played 2 poor shots and gets birdie. Bryson plays 2 excellent shots and gets par.

Do you mind explaining what was happening? They only show golfers wearing Rolex’s for an hour or something stupid like that?

It's an ad free hour of coverage, but they spend time going through full leaderboard and doing studio crap. Was also issues with American broadcaster, no crowd sound or shot graphics appearing.

Aberg again gets lucky with his drive on 4, stopping just short of the bunker. While Bryson just trickled into it with his drive.

It's just a daft name to show an hour and get sponsorship money from Rolex. There was very little golf shown, and when a shot was played, it often didn't show where the ball landed. There was very little sound from out on the course as well.

The coverage has been poor in general. What happened to Rory after he went into the bunker on the par 5 5th? Did I miss something? The next shot I seen him play was his tee shot on 6.

Aberg reminds me of Mcllroy 13ish years ago

    This coverage is bonkers.

See the player hitting the shot but not where it lands. They also just showed a Tyrell Hatton shot land but not Hatton hitting the shot.

Audio not matching visuals. Shot tracers not working. It’s very poor.

That was a bad bogey to concede by Rory.

Rory must be sick with that approach at 7, lands on the green. Looked like a good shot and it's stopped, but then it starts rolling back and off the green.

McIlroy is playing very well I think, he's got a great chance here imo

Rory isn't getting many breaks. He's finally picked up a birdie though on 9.

No one running away with this.

All about not making big mistakes.

Or about taking your medicine and not compounding any mistakes.

Edit: And Aberg demonstrates this perfectly on the ninth.

  • Registered Users Posts: 17,181 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

Another shot of Rory's that lands on the green, but not for long. Frustrating.

Bryson is really on form today…….if he keeps it up he could be -8 or -9 tonight.

Rory right in the mix too.

Another birdie for Rory. Playing very steady golf.

I love this course. Greens are super silly, but that's what you need to throttle these guys now. Would love to see more courses like this on the tours.

I was thinking that putter was the wrong choice for Finau there for his third but this is turning into a disaster.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,903 ✭✭✭De Bhál

Finau messed up there. Hopefully back to him after ad break to see what happens

    Rory playing some great stuff

Finau having a nightmare on this hole

  • Registered Users Posts: 17,181 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

Finau is having an absolute mare on unlucky 13.

Am not enjoying the toughness of the course at all. I know it’s a major and should be tough but it looks very very tough, luck more than skill is winning.

Agree with Finau, poor lad looks lost.

  • Registered Users Posts: 17,181 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

Rory will be delighted with the par, especially after watching Tony blow his hopes of a win on that hole.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,903 ✭✭✭De Bhál

    Some shot

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,295 ✭✭✭facehugger99

    C'mon McIlroy.

    Great shot.

  • Registered Users Posts: 17,181 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

Excellent from Rory. The control on that approach.
