If I was at a job A for a couple years and left for job B for 6 months, then returned to job A how can list both on a CV? Job B was grand just my circumstances changed and had to leave it but I'd like to list the experience and role

Im just trying to find out what looks the most professional way to list it

    Example:

    Job A

    Tech Solutions Inc.
    New York, NY
    June 2019 – December 2021

Developed and maintained web applications using JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
Collaborated with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.

    Job B
    Senior Software Developer
    Innovatech Corp.
    San Francisco, CA
    January 2022 – June 2022

Led a team of developers in creating scalable software solutions.
Implemented new features and optimized existing codebase for performance improvements.

    Job A
    Software Developer
    Tech Solutions Inc.
    New York, NY
    July 2022 – Present

Continued development and optimization of existing applications.
Mentored junior developers and conducted code reviews.

    Tips for Clarity and Professionalism

Consistency: Ensure the formatting for dates, titles, and company names is consistent throughout your CV.
Explanation in Cover Letter: If you think employers might be curious about your job change and return, briefly explain it in your cover letter. Mention that you left Job A for an opportunity at Job B, and then due to a change in circumstances, you returned to Job A.
Focus on Achievements: Highlight your key responsibilities and achievements in each role to show the value you brought to both positions.
By listing your experience this way, you demonstrate a clear and professional timeline of your career progression and highlight your adaptability and skills.

The fact that a previous employer rehired you would most likely be seen as a positive so I wouldn't have any concern about it. Just make sure your dates allign and be prepared to discuss it in a positive manner in the interview.

It depends on what kind of resume you are going to present a skills/experience based one or a chronological one? Skills/experience based it is of no consequences unless you gained something from the time there [just add the period to the list of employers], chronological list it as the next job in our list, with perhaps a note about rejoining.
