well lads I got approved for a gun license nearly five weeks ago but I’m still waiting on the approval letter to come it’s my first license I’m just wondering is this normal or should I contact the FAO. I’m anxious to get going.

Yeah until you get the grant letter you have not been approved, so at this point I would chase up either the FO or super and ask them what the deal is.
The process is they grant your licence, you get a grant letter in the post, you pay the grant letter and usually within a week you get your physical licence in the post.
So either your letter has not arrived(unlikely) or they have not granted your application yet(overwhelmingly likely, despite what they may have told you).

So yup, chase either the FO(firearms officer) or Superintendent.

Just to clarify, you received your grant letter, paid the €80 fee and nearly 5 weeks have passed since you paid the fee and the licence still has not arrived?

Sorry I should of been clearer I met with my local FAO and superintendent and they told me I have been approved for the license and told me to wait for a approval letter to come in the post and I have to take it to the post office but I still haven’t gotten the approval letter
