Leaves blocking drain

I have an issue with shrub/ tree leaves blocking a drain and it can be difficult to remove the debris from the U-bend. The drain has to be cleared numerous times each year. Does anyone have a solution? Does a drain guard work or is there a better solution? Thanks in advance.

Put a drain guard/cover over it and remove the leaves from it regularly.
