Kevin Sharkey is starting a new political party with Michelle Smith who ran in the European Elections for Independant Ireland.

Sharkey does most of his talking over on Tiktok so thats how I heard about it but the guy puts a lot of thought into what he is saying and if this works out it could be the party people on the right are looking for.

The official launch for the party is July 4th.

Why not stick with the Independent Ireland brand? The brand has had some decent success in the locals/EUs.

Sharkey has been openly anti immigrant for longer than most iirc, going back a few years. It will be interesting to see how it develops and what sort of people will decide to back him, considering some of his other stances

Irish people don't want an alternative. Any time an alternative appears it's the same cynicism of what is their solution. That's fair enough if the people can tell us what is FF and FG solutions to the big problems, apart from taking orders from their masters in Brussels and giving out huge contracts to their mates for building hospitals and taking in immigrants.

We're getting dangerously close to having a one party system disguised as two parties,with a monopoly of power and influence and a lot of bot like creatures on their side to immediately quash any alternative.

Sharkey is in his early to mid 60’s… he’d be almost 70 by the end of the next Dail.

From what I’ve seen he’s a bit of character…. Has some very legitimate, common sense and desirable views and others which are a bit out there. In a time where common sense is not that common he could prove popular but I dunno he has next to no experience of politics.

maybe 10 years ago he’d have had an opportunity with more time, for people to get to know him, a more youthful man but he seems to mean well, just I’m doubting if he has the sort of time on his side to make an impact with a new party.
