In addition to the music channels owned by Channel 4 being closed this summer.

Channel 4 will closedown most of the UK & Irish SD Variants of Channel 4 on Sky from Monday the 1st of July.

Channel 4 Republic of Ireland, Channel 4 Ulster, Channel 4 Midlands, Channel 4 Scotland, Channel 4 South & Channel 4 North in standard definition will no longer be viewable from the Sky EPG from that date.

However Channel 4 London SD will remain in place for most Sky customers on 104 in the UK. Although it will be on 108 in Wales.

Channel 4 ROI HD will remain on 135 for Sky customers in Ireland.

I hope that a +1 channel remains, there's 6 currently showing, would be great if they made it HD and removed the other 5.

To be fair the Channel 4 Player is great so catch-up isn't a nightmare if the +1 did go.

There has been no mention of any of Channel 4's +1s regions closing

After Monday, there will be just one SD version of Channel 4 (London) and that will be available in the UK only on 104/804 depending on SD/HD Sky box. The current ROI SD version on 135/829 will not be replaced with the London version, so 829 will be vacant

The five +1 regions of Channel 4 are unaffected

Channel 4 did at one time have a HD version of their +1 channel, but it was exclusively on Freeview on a multiplex that's no longer broadcasting. Given their financial state, I suspect we're more likely to see +1's across their channel portfolio being axed in the near future rather than any being upgraded to HD on satellite. Questions will also hang on what their current deal with Sky is for HD access to E4, More 4 etc. and when it expires as to wherever they'll do an ITV and revert them to FTA HD eventually (IMO if Sky saw no value in ITV 2, 3 & 4 remaining pay-TV HD channels, the Channel 4 family is likely to eventually reach the same outcome ).

In the meantime that leaves after 1 July 16 SD services across two transponders (10714 H & 10936 V) - a bit of shuffling could see all those services migrated to one transponder similar to what ITV done earlier this year after their latest batch of SD closures - there's already several DVB-S transponders on the same satellites carrying at least 16 SD services each, so it's not unheard of.

I wonder what will happen to 4Seven & E4 Extra when we get to July. Will they go HD or SD in DVB-S2 on Sky & Freesat by then or would they close altogether?
