Hi well I've posted on here before after 10 years on the housing list and a number of years in hostel accomodation I've been made an offer of an apartment.

They have to do a police background check or something has anyone had this before is it standard?

Make sure you ring them within two days of receiving that notice/nomination. Where does it say they're doing a police check? Are you going to accept their nomination? I'm assuming your queries will be answered when you ring them.

I spoke on the phone she rang me this morning before sending this email to offer me it, said they do a police check for section 15a and Child sex offences obviously I've never had anything like that near me, but just wondering why they'd check.

They need to know who's living in their house I'd imagine.

Im just hoping this is all a formality now and my homelessness is over

It's totally standard. They need to know if the guards have any issues with you living in the particular area - eg if you are a child sex offender, they won't want you living in an estate with children.

Yeah no completely. I have 6 previous convictions for driving offences over 8 years ago. Nothing substantial or serious in my opinion.
