irrespective of the backstory to this, the most likely scenario is a Michael Mosley type death in the end, due to terrain & heat, dehydration, exhaustion of body resources. There’s more bushes and ravines here than Symi, so it would account for his body to be so hard to find. There’s huge cliffs too. I once took a helicopter trip up over Los Gigantes and quite frankly you’d lose your footing in a second looking down over the very difficult & confusing terrain.
