On one side of our back garden the last 9 feet has no dividing wall with the neighbour so I'm going to try and do the foundation myself and then get some one to build me a bit of wall. I have cavity blocks to hand so was going to use them and the wall will be about 6 feet high to match existing walls. Could someone tell me the basics of what size trench and how thick a layer of concrete I need to put down?

I also want to put an oil tank alongside this wall and am unsure if similar foundation size and cavity blocks will do for this. Googling gave me various answers and I got confused!
