Allergy to peas (not looking for advice!). Anyone know how common this is?

My boy is allergic to peas though peas are not an official allergen so it can make sussing foods out with peas quite difficult. Obviously this can be quite easy at times given that you know there’s likely to be peas in certain soups, curries etc…

Where it becomes way more tricky is that pea fibre and pea protein are used in loads of foods you’d never expect them to be in such as chicken breast (as in slices of chicken that look like they’re 100% carved chicken breast) you’d use in sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs, ice cream etc… and now I’ve just found out that McDonalds use pea protein in their burger buns.

The amount of food that peas are now in to act as a cheap filler is ridiculous.

Apart from peas he’s allergic to lentils, chickpeas and gram flour… but not peanuts.

The use of pea fibre and/or pea protein in loads of new foods is becoming a headache for us.
