Shocking inability of almost all our players to convert decent chances.

Bruno aside, nobody in this squad can be depended on to score goals.

With respect I can’t agree there but would love to of course.

Mad to think it’s a game at the bottom of the league that’s pretty even in regards to quality.

Ah well let’s hope Bilbao are afraid of our name because our team sure ain’t living up to it.

We were dreadful in front of goal today as usual.

General play was much improved. No stupid errors leading to ridiculous goals in open play as usual, that's where we are currently so today wasn't a poor performance.

Wolves rode their luck, took their goal well and are world class sh1t houses.

I'm more disappointed losing today than against a good Newcastle side last week. A real lost opportunity.

    Glazers Out!

What happened the other night has saved the Manager. Good God were a pile of bottlers.

Brilliant free kick and brilliant performance from Wolves. 5 in a row is only something we can dream of.

    another terrible result.

    So frustrating.

Actually thought we were ok, especially in the first half.

THought our lack of quality up front was highlighted as the big issue, yet again.

I think persisting with Hojlund up front has been Amorim's biggest mistake.

Literally anyone playing up there instead of him right now would be an improvement and even seeing him come on as a sub with a point to prove would be a better scenario for us than what he's been producing for the last few months.

If we had an in form striker in the side we'd be a few places up in the table right now.

    Glazers Out!

I know he hasn't much of a choice but Rasmus is so so poor. I've seen some terrible strikes at United such as Davenport and Birtles but this guy makes them look prime Ruud...

If Zirkzee wasn't injured he'd likely be our first choice. the next option is 17 years old.

I said in January we would massively regret not signing a striker. it was an obvious need.

Even playing someone out of position or sticking a young lad into the mix would be preferable.

He had some good performances last season but I don't think he's going to strive in this system.

At least we are mathematically safe now after the Arsenal result

It’s crazy to think we probably deserve relegation and could win a Europa.

I was saying back in January that he was on course to have the worst individual season in United history and he still had a huge number of defenders on here.

That is no longer in question. Without doubt the worst season ever by a United player (who got significant playing time).

The only positive is we will improve so so much from our current level with just one mid level starting striker for next year.

he played mainoo up top for a few games and then he got injured we also had a massive injury crsisi with bnches full of youngsters for a long time its not exactly like he had load of choices, he has basically had to play ramus as he has managed to stay fit maybe we will see mainoo start up top again now he has options

I hope that was a joke. IMO, Dalot is one of the worst players on the team, constantly out of position, too weak in defence and soft in the tackle. He is decent going forward at times and he scored on Thursday but he is so frustrating to watch. Even his celebration on Thursday with Gernacho infuriated me reminds me of the arrogance of Pogba and Lingard.

Anyway poor performance poor result today but obviously league not at all important now our whole season (and next season) hinges on the Europa League. Bilbao play Real Madrid at 8 tonight so hoping they all get injured!!

The guy has played more minutes than anyone (bar maybe bruno) Not saying he has pulled up trees, but he must be close to burnout or injury at this stage with his game time

Was at OT today, Hojlund was absolutely hopeless. His movement is horrendous and the open space he avoids running into is shocking. He looks like a man who’s given up.

who to we play up top against bournemouth with a view to bilbao a few days after? cant be rasmus, cant be obi.

mount, bruno, or mainoo i suppose. i would leave amad and garnacho where they are.

I really feel for Hojlund I really think there is a player in there. He makes more runs than other forwards, receives the least amount of service, last season he was the player to receive the least amount of passes in the team which is incredible. I think now 2 years at United he knows he won't get decent service and at this point has lost so much confidence.

Last Thursday he had to drop deeper to get involved he linked up well at times but when ball was played on we had no one up front. He's the type of player that will leave and go a team that attacks as a unit with 2 or 3 up top and bang in goals elsewhere. With this United team he hasn't been given a platform to perform and improve.

If he's not sold and there is enough bodies in the squad to compete for each position, Rasmus should be sent on loan.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,879 ✭✭✭✭DrPhilG

Except he has done that before, playing Mainoo up top and he got slaughtered for that too.

Some folk are going to condemn Amorim no matter what happens. And of course some are going to defend him. But I know which side of the debate has more logic and common sense on its side.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,584 ✭✭✭✭MisterAnarchy

He is atrocious, adds nothing to the team.

Cant hold the ball up, is slow, cant score.

Be better off playing Harry up front for the rest of the season instead of him.

I do wonder if Hojlund would play better in a functional team. He’s had patches where he’s looked decent, only to break down injured and then come back looking slow and sluggish. Unfortunately, the more I see of him, the more I fear he just doesn’t cut the mustard. I was hoping he could develop into proper 9, but it’s looking less and less likely for me.

He obviously has ability. He has done pretty well in Italy and he has looked OK in his early days at United. So it's not just a case of buying Djemba x2 or Bebe etc.

Unfortunately rather than progressing from "OK" to good at United, he looks to have hit a wall mentally and just gone to sh*t.

I would love to see him come good, because for one thing I don't think we can win the Europa without a striker, but it's looking more and more like he's just not got the confidence and/or mentality to back up whatever ability he might have.

Not sure we'll be in a position to sell him at a loss this summer, so he may just be the latest player (Rashford, Sancho, Antony) who we have to loan out for a year and try to get him to recover enough form to get a move.

In fairness he seems more of an Antony than a Rashford/Sancho in that his heart is very much in it. He just can't get it to happen for him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,043 ✭✭✭Iseedeadpixels

The pressure to play for the club is too much for most of our players, unfortunately for Hojlund he was signed without a senior striker ahead of him and has born the brunt of it.

I'm a fan and defended him a lot but he needs to leave for his own good, much like Antony.

I'm probably done with Rasmus unfortunately, loved his attitude when he first joined us but he is not even making a proper effort lately. Amorin is starting to skate on extremely thin ice now as well. How much worse can the club become before the board decide to act. We can't just keep losing games every week especially at home and just accept that's the way it is. We might have a few crappy players but that squad should be doing better. It's up to all the players to score goals, not just the front few. I pray we can win the europa as it'll give me a bit of hope we are going in the right direction but the season has been an utter disaster so far. Sorry for the depressing moan

Time is contagious, everyone is getting old.
