Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I put together a new build recently but I'm not getting any display.

All peripherals getting power but the monitor light just keeps blinking, no input signal.

I'm using a display port to dual dvi lead going from the IO panel straight into the monitor.

I've reseated the CPU, the RAM, tried different RAM slots, reset CMOS, burned an effigy to the ancestors, nothing.

    Asus B760M-A WiFi D4

i5 12500 (no letter, 99% sure has integrated graphics)

    Kingston Fury 16gb DDR4 ram

    Corsair CV550 psu

    Qnix QX2710 monitor

    What am I missing here?!

Very hard to diagnose without some extra information, What PSU have you got? Can you take pictures, if your converting DP to DVI that might be an issue if using a crappy converter cable

Do you have an HDMI cable you can try? Asus BIOS's have a bad tendency to prefer the HDMI and not default to the DisplayPort cable.

And that CPU does have an integrated Intel UHD GPU.

That monitor seems to have both HDMI and Display Port inputs, you should try with a simple HDMI or Display Port cable, no adapter, just to rule that out.

I would put money on that adapter cable. Had it myself. Got a different brand and it was all good.

Ideally do away with the adapter and use display port or hdmi direct. Its an easy test.

My monitor only has dual dvi input. The mobo only has HDMI or Disply Port output.

I've just ordered a hdmi - dual dvi lead from Amazon, hopefully that'll sort it. It was only a tenner but it was the highest rated one so we'll see.

just to be completely sure, you could just connect to a hdmi port on your tv to see if the display is working.

Good idea. Not very conveniently but I can manage I'll manage it tomorrow. 👍

Ok so connecting to the monitor via Display port to dual dvi, no display.

HDMI to dual dvi, no display.

Connecting to my TV, hdmi to hdmi, display works!

So what does that tell us, I need a new monitor?

Are you sure about the monitor model and that it really doesn't have any other options?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,265 ✭✭✭..Brian..

    Pretty sure 😉

Is it a specialist monitor or just a standard monitor? Monitor's are really cheap these days relatively speaking and especially 2nd hand. You'd get a standard 24" hdmi for about €50 second hand. Obviously if it's one of those Catleap or similar 1440p displays it's a bit more of a kicker to have to go out and get a 1440p display but even those are fairly cheap these days for just a standard 1440p 60hz option.

If it's old enough to predate HDMI, something modern isn't unwarranted. And it's easy to get a decent and cheap one with 120/144Hz, and a larger resolution too.

That's an old Korean monitor I bought about 10 years ago for like €300. They're 1440p, overclockable and we're about 1/3 of the price of a branded one available back then.

I'm actually looking on Amazon now and am surprised how cheap new monitors are! 4k IPS 27" for €250? Let's go! 🤣
