Nothing more here - frustrating to be trapped in a bit of a waiting game! Wondering how much notice we'll get pre-start date?

Yeah it's starting to get annoying not hearing anything! Thought it would be soon enough after getting us to tell our current jobs we're leaving 🤷‍♂️

I'm not certain but it would surely be a few weeks at least I'd say

Have people handed in notices already? I technically haven't yet, my employer sent in the reference after I had an 'off the record' chat with him, but my plan was to wait until I receive an offer from the department before making it official. Mostly just to play it safe I suppose.

Curious to hear if others have taken a different approach!

Yeah I've taken the same approach, seems to be the safest bet. Won't be handing in my notice officially until I have a job offer and a start date

I heard from the dfa on Friday finally! Not with a start date just yet, and haven’t given my notice but I am very keen to get going!

what was it they reached out with this time? curious how much longer it could take !!

I heard from public jobs Friday evening about a reference query I sent them two weeks ago... they really are very slow. What did the DFA reach out about?

I am curious, does anyone know if after all these checks are completed and confirmed, is there any flexibility when it comes to start dates from the DFA? Do they tolerate any deferrals in start times, or just immediately rule you out?

Which langaues are most in demand as a diplomat?

It's something I've always wanted to do, but I feel as though some languages look better than others on a CV

An Expression of Interest has gone out this morning for people who didn't make the cut-off point for the first round of interviews.

Sorry do you mean it’s been sent to some people who scored below 44 on the précis? Scored 40 myself but I may not be high enough

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4 Mayju

Yeah, I was 42 and under the cutoff myself and received the email this time around.

Ah gotcha cheers, was hoping I might get called in the second batch. Congrats and best of luck anyway!

I got 41 and no e-mail so must be just 43s and 42s!

I am curious is the EoI just a simple yes/no or is it an invitation to interview/do another Précis?

An appitude to learn languages is probably more important than what languages you have. And you can be a diplomat with limited language skills but strengths in other areas.

does anyone know the lifetime of this panel? I scored 20 in the précis exercise so just passed the qualifying standard. Probably unlikely I will be called to interview for I’m holding on to hope!

    Just a couple of questions.

Is the interview the final stage or is there a fourth stage.

Does the fact that a second batch has been called for interview mean that those who who passed interview in stage 1 are now employed by DFA.

I see they’ve now launched temporary positions for the Presidency.
