Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Anyone know what this red valve handle is for?

    Anyone know what this straight red handle is for? I guessed it would allow the water in the tank to heat but leave the rads off but when I tried it that wasn't the case. Neither the rads or water got hot. And would turning the wheel valve on the bottom right prevent the water heating up?

    It's probably the feed or return from the boiler, the pipe going upwards might be an expansion pipe. You'd need to check the temperature of each of the pipes as the boiler fires to work out what's what.

    the 1/2 inch is the feed from the expansion tank

    top pipe on cylinder is FLOW

    bottom is RETURN

    Bottom right valve is heating balancing valve {usually set 1/4 open}

    That lever valve is on the flow and would isolate some rads, possibly to isolate rads heating up during the summer when using the boiler to heat hot water

    We have an identical looking lever to that on ours and it turns off the downstairs rads
