Yes, he ‘————won’t make those same mistakes again’. But he will make DIFFERENT MISTAKES!,!

Thats from an official Trump campaign account.

    Blatant racism.

How will the "centrists" and independent voters for Trump try to defend Trump on this one?

    Betting odds shortened again

    Trump evens

Can Trump swap out JD Vance at any time? I wouldn’t be surprised if that happens if he continues to lose ground.

The DNC next week is only going to unsettle him even more.

Can swap out JD Vance anytime, yes, but then Trump would have to admit he made a mistake. Vance suddenly gets ill?

I think he missed the window. He's already officially on ballot that went to print iirc

    I me

I mean, I'm sure he could be "swapped out" permanently, in the Martin Scorsese sense of the word.

Trump can probably do anything he wants as far as his "base" are concerned , but now that they've been through the GOP convention and he has officially been nominated it's much more difficult.

Biden dropping out was very different in that he hadn't been officially confirmed - That doesn't even happen for Harris until this week-end.

If Trump wanted Vance gone , he would just get Vance to fall on his sword and invent some reason that gives them air-cover from potential legal issues.

But , Trump does not and cannot admit a mistake and ditching Vance would be an admission that he royally screwed up picking him and that his campaign is in trouble, so he will just keep on going , keep on whining about how everyone else is to blame for everything and Vance will get hung out to dry by him if they lose.

"It's all JDs fault" , "I would have won if it wasn't for…….." etc. etc. ad infinitum.

One thing is for absolute certain if Trump loses in November, Vances political career is finished. He'll get primaried next time out and lose , if he doesn't simply step down and run away long before then.

He didn't have a stacked supreme court before, he hadn't purged the GOP or and sane (if politically disagreeable) members.

He has consolidated power in that party and has the Court in his pocket

I think especially once the DNC happens, it becomes too late. Trump would have to get permission from the GOP delegates to both change the VP and then get them also to vote on the replacement VP. That would be a gargantuan task. Once the DNC happens, States will be starting to finalise all the ballots etc too.

I'm also pretty sure Vance would probably refuse to step down willingly. It'd be a much easier sell to delegates and States if Vance stepped down citing personal reasons etc, but if he's just being forced out by Trump he could make it a lot harder for them.

Trump will likely continue to just play up that the VP is unimportant (well, his VP is, but Kamala when she was VP and Walz if he becomes VP are absolutely responsible for everything bad that has ever happened, real or imaginary), and so Vance will become the scapegoat and target for all the "weird" side of things and maybe even of Project 2025 given how he wrote the foreword for the book written by the architect of it.

In Trumpland, Kamala's VP matters very much because to hear him tell it, Kamala is a 'DEI hire' and, as such, isn't capable of running anything, so it would really be Walz calling the shots. And as he would be a radical left, Fascist, Communist, this would be bad news for America...

He needs to dump all the stuff he’s done previously- it’s old and tired and dated and it’s making him look even more stupid than he usually appears.

He’s still a force to be reckoned with but his racial attack on Harris hasn’t landed particularly well - he just doesn’t know how to approach her so he’s going to his usual name calling gimmic.
It’s clear he’s struggling but if he refocuses on the economy and the border and just keep it simple, he’ll gain ground there as they are weak areas for Harris

All boils down to a Nikki Haley quote from February: the first party to dump their old man will win.

How much damage can he do next time around? Did you see what he did as outgoing president on 6th January 2021?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,488 ✭✭✭paddyisreal

A lot less damage than the democrats anyway. its actually hilarous when fingers are pointed at trump and the **** show biden/harris have made of the middle east is miles worse than anything trump did

Lets not forget Trumps long history of Nazi gaffs.

Remember folks, if he's signalling something he really means it. MAGA is the American version of the National Socialist Party, something's that's been on the cards for a long time.

It's actually hilarious when people pretend like Trump isn't in Netanyahu's pocket, was giving them carte blanche publicly to "get things done" and how about that move of the embassy to Jerusalem?

You're going to ignore that he incited a riot and tried to stop the democratic transfer of power to the new president? That he calls the people arrested and jailed 'hostages'. You think he won't try the same if he wins again? Okay.

I've said this before , but trying to use US policy regarding Israel against Biden/Harris is just stupid.

Yes - US policy on Israel is terrible and always has been , but trying to suggest that the current administration are doing ANYTHING different than any other admin would do is delusional.

Deciding that you aren't going to vote for the Democrats because of Israel is frankly silly - The GOP and Trump specifically would do much much worse.

For example Trump fully supports the annexation of the West Bank and giving Israel full control there - That won't happen peacefully or quietly.

US Israeli policy is awful , but it isn't something that will be influenced by not voting for the Democrats or worse , voting for Trump.

Absolutely - the one thing that can be guaranteed in this election, no matter who wins, what party they're from, how crazy or how senile they are, what they said in the past, what they have for breakfast, how big their crowds or rallies are, is a pro-Isreal stance.

    Complete non-starter as an issue.

When he lost in 2020 and started the whole Big Lie nonsense, I almost expected him to not only maintain that he was the real President (which he and his supporters did), but I also kind of expected him to flee to a nation without extradition and set up his own "Government in Exile" made up of the various MAGA Dum-dums that might have followed him. That one didn't happen since he clearly doesn't have enough follow-through for such a job.

However, upon losing 2024 I can kind of imagine him wanting to get out of Dodge. The gears of justice in the US are slow, but they've finally started to zero-in on Trump and now that he's already gotten convicted I can't imagine him surviving another 4 years without unpleasant consquences landing on him eventually. Right now, the election is mostly giving him a break, and I suspect some Judges might be waiting to see if they'll be dealing with a re-elected headache of a "President" Trump or if they get to officiate over trying a washed up Citizen Trump. If the best case happens, and we have a President Harris, then the various legal books are going to be thrown at Donnie, and the bullish partisan behaviour of the likes of Judge Cannon will likely start to go away. (No point in defending a defeated Donnie if it's just going to cost you the Bar)

So I can see him packing away all of his gold-plated tatt into his rented Epstien jet and making a beeline for Moscow or Pyongyang or maybe even Kampala….and set up his "MAGA Government for the Salvation of America™" in exile in the hollow husk of some half-finished Trump resort. Notibly, Melania likely doesn't join him and makes a small mint selling the book / movie rights to her story of being married to the Orange Lummox.

Trump would be convicted in absentia and find himself unable to return to the Western World. Left to only hang out with other facism-loving dolts like Steven Segal, (and possibly Musk once he pisses away all his cash and is chased over there by a Ukrainian Government out for revenge over what he did with Starlink) Donnie will live out his exile in company of far-right weirdos & losers. Consigned to a hell of his own making. Eventially, he's either captured or loses enough of his marbles that he needs medical help in the US. He's then put away in some high security hospital, where he eventually disintergrates away, alone and forgotten.

He'd better hope he never gets a named tombstone on his grave. There would be a queue, miles lone, to dance on it.

Obama and now Biden/ Harris have signed off on 58 billion to fund Israel and this shitshow. No body else all happened under the democrats watch and that is a fact. The moving of the embassy is nothing compared to this. The last person to withdraw funding was Reagan.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,488 ✭✭✭paddyisreal

Are you going to ignore the funding of Israels killing machine by Obama, Biden ? Okay

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,631 ✭✭✭✭odyssey06

Obama? Did you skip a few years? How much did Trump sign off on?
Trump is haranguing Biden in public for ever thinking about holding up aid to Israel.

This is a thread to discuss a two horse race between Harris and Trump, you claim to be concerned about Israel, you use it as a pretence to criticise Democrats… yet all the evidence points to Trump doing even more of things you claim to be concerned about. Something you feign ignorance of.

    Entirely discrediting of your argument.

Its called politics.... Tell me how much of that 58 billion in funding did trump sign off on ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,488 ✭✭✭paddyisreal

Yep keep telling yourself that sure it was trump that signed off on 58 billion in funding. Fakenews

… and Trump funded them when he was in power - so whats your point exactly because from here its a very weak one.
