Ford transit connect vs peugeot partner

I am in the market for a small van. This van will be used as a daily driver and I intend to use it as a minimalist camper on occasion. I am looking at 2021+ vehicles with less than 50k km.

In terms of reliability which van would be recommended? I have been put off the connect somewhat after reading reports of wet belt failure. I am unsure however if these cases are being overstaded? Are there any common issues with the peugeot partner that I should be aware of?

    Many thanks

Is Transit Connect a wet-belt configuration? I think it might be (i.e. the timing belt is in the part of the engine where the oil is), and if so then I'd avoid on that basis because I've heard lots of horror stories of belts disintegrating and ruining engines.

Renault Kangoo (the newer ones) are supposed to be good.

Of those 2 choices I’d say the Berlingo would be less likely to give trouble. Company I work for has had lots of issues with 1.5 TDCi Ford vans. Berlingos have been solid.

You will have to go back a few years and get a 1.6 hdi engine in the Berlingo or the fiat doblo 1.6.

are the 1.6 HDI considered better than the 1.5? We’ve put some good mileage on them 1.5s and they’ve been ok.

Yea As far as I know the last of the 1.6 hdi were ok.

The 1.5 has a wet belt or not Im not sure ,but I do know the early ford 1.5 engine was ok before the wet belt.

As far as I can see on second hand prices ,1.5 and 2.0 engined vehicles are taking a hit.
