    Sad news, stirred a passion which extended beyond just horseracing, a national hero who exemplified a time when Irishness became an attribute rather than something to be scoffed at especially across the water.

    Triple Champion Hurdle winner and denied a 4th and history only by the foot and mouth outbreak, RIP.
