Apple Trees Failing

Hi, I was hoping someone could help me with a problem with my apple trees.

Every spring they look really well up until about May when half of them start to shrivel up and look awful. It seems to be espically the crabs but a number of others too. Some of the trees are ok. After the winter they seem to come back strong in the spring up until just about flowering time and they fail again.

From looking around online I'm possibly thinking fireblight? However I snapped a branch to look and no sign of reddening anywhere. Would anyone have any input? Thanks

It looks like canker, most of ours get it.

Moist humid weather doesn't do the apple trees any good. There were apple trees in my granny's garden in Drumcondra back in the day.

Rust got the better of our crab apple tree over the last 2 years. I tried everything to date with little success. Canker as mentioned above does appear to be the problem by the look of the pictures. Difficult weather patterns don't help much.
