Router acceleration entry error

    Hi,

I got a new deco system and it is having issues transferring files accross the network. I had a remote session with TP-link and the guy was doing lots of things I didn't understand.

Anyway he concluded that the issue was with my home assitant (connected by ethernet, running on a raspberry pi 4). He stated

    He stated

"home assistant e4:5f:01:fe:43:32 Is it possible for this device to perform ARP proxy? From the current analysis, X50-PoE maps the MAC of 192.168.68.59 to e4:5f:01:fe:43:32, causing the problem."

I had no idea what an ARP proxy is so he then said:

"e4:5f:01:fe:43:32 is the MAC of the home assistant (192.168.68.136), and 192.168.68.59 is the IP of this computer. The acceleration entry of X50-PoE thinks that 192.168.68.59 corresponds to e4:5f:01:fe:43:32, which causes the problem"

I'm unsure how to fix this. I can confirm the files transfer from my laptop to Nvidia shield without issue when home assistant is turned off but obviously that's not my ideal solution! I was giong to try switching it over to wifi to see what happens but i'd like to keep it ethernet if possible.

Anybody able to advise? I don't know enough about the probelm to know whether this is more appropriate in the netowrking section or IOT as it's home assitant relateed.

From a bit of reading, it's being done at the OS level on the Pi. So what OS do you have running on it?

on x50 go Advanced»Security»IP&MAC binding, here should be your ARP list and binding .

:"I can confirm the files transfer from my laptop to Nvidia shield without issue when home assistant is turned off"
but you also able to transfer when connected to different nodes or on Ethernet, right?
And no issues with old decos either.

not disregarding it, but does it mean ARP proxy(even if you have one) suddenly has no impact in these two three scenarios?

I installed home assistant which seems to be a Linux based operating system, I'm not sure exactly

Connected laptop via ethernet the transfer works, and if connected via different nodes it seems to work too, correct.

I did a factory reset of another node and I'm testing that now, but I'm away for the weekend, the first file transfer worked but that could just be a fluke.

Unfortunately the deco keeps dropping internet also, tech support thinks this is because it's restarting but I have auto reboot turned off so I'm awaiting info to see why it's restarting. I'm unsure if this issue is related

I seem to have different options and can't find that arp binding list. Security is a separate tab in my app but doesn't have it.

I had previously assigned a static IP to everything on my network but didn't bother since a factor reset, issue was there in both scenarios. The screenshot shows my options in advanced

My point to Advanced»Security»IP&MAC binding was based on GUI interface on browser(by IP) and on Archer routers - try that. Or perhaps X50 have different menu/settings layout.
Your connection to internet(to be fixed :D) should not have effect to file transfer between LAN devices, unless it is actual malfunction on X50

Home Assistant is a Linux based distro. It does not seem to be based on any mainstream distro such as debian.

My backup network, my old mesh system in use to keep EV charging and allow working from home without interruption, doesn't discount at the same times that my decco x50 does, happens on two units I've tried as the main router.. It's very strange. I'll try the etc interface tomorrow when I get home. Thanks

Just an update. I never did get the list as mentioned above. I do get a list of all devices on the network with their IP and Mac address and there's no appartent conflict or issues. I plugged the deco into a socket just to eliminate an issue with PoE. I'll do some more transfer attempts tonight as one worked last night but i tihnk it was because laptop was connected to 2.4Ghz wifi rather than 5Ghz.

They have sent me a beta firmware upgrade as the deco was restarting 8-10 times a day which is why devices were losing internet connection. Maybe this firmware will inadvertatnly have a fix for file transfer also.

New firmware had no imrpovement, still rebooted 6 or 7 times in 15 hours.

I did notice though that I had two home assistant integrations one for TP-link deco and the other just something which measured packets and data passing through the the router. A long shot but what if one of these was messing with the file transfers….as they work when home assistant is unplugged. Perhaps they supprot the old decos fine but some sort of clash with the new one. I've uninstalled both and I'll test the file transfer again this evening.

Support are good at keeping in touch, they might need another remote session I think on the reboot issue. Judging my amazon reviews I seem to be unclucky as all reviews seems to be good!
