Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Eloping in Europe

    Hello,

Myself and my partner want to elope somewhere in Europe next year, just the 2 of us, but we are unsure of where to go. I have contacted some wedding planners but the cost seems to be too much so I think we might just book everything ourselves. Has anybody any experience of doing this and could give me some direction :) ?

Have you considered (or even know about) Gret na Green? It the traditional place for elopements. They even have an elopement package deal: https://www.gretnagreen.com/the-elopement-package-p1429

I've never been married, so maybe I'm a bit naive about the whole thing - but would you not just decide where you'd like to do it, contact the local church/local authority/mosque/synagogue/whatever, and book yourself in? I'm sure Google would have info on local legal requirements like length of notice required etc.

Then find the finest restaurant in the vicinity, and the loveliest hotel, and book both of those.

That's what I'd be doing anyway!

My long term plan is along similar lines too :D

    Great minds.

It sounds like a good option but I think we might prefer somewhere where we are guaranteed better weather. I wouldn't rule it out though!

Sounds like you just want a holiday in the sun.

Remember, you don't have to get married.

We eloped to Barbados where we got married in a torrential storm, so mind where you go,

I just made contact direct, didn't use a wedding planner, not for just the 2 of us. Go look at venues online and contact them to arrange, i.e. a nice 5 star hotel on a beach

You could elope to greta and then head off to spain for a week.
