6 or 7 Seater Petrol Hybrid

In the market for the above. But have noticed so far that boot space is minimal.

Is there any particular model that has a bigger boot and somewhat more comfort in the 3rd row seats?

Would prefer something with less than 150,000kms on the clock.

Budget is around 18000 max.

Jap Import Toyota Estima or similar should suit your needs. Given your budget it could be at least 10 years old though.

Had a look there. 14 years old for affordable hybrids. 10 years old will only get petrol models with 1250 tax.

Could you afford to wait 3 months and import something from Japan yourself (via an importer as opposed to a garage)?

Been driving diesel for 8 years and no longer do much motorway or longer distance driving. Would also like to move away from diesel for environmental reasons.

Moving away from diesel probably make sense if you’re only doing short journeys. A spacious 7 seat petrol hybrid like an older Estima won’t be all that environmentally friendly at 30mpg approx. A bigger budget would open up some plug in hybrid options like a Sorento or Santa Fe.

I haven't done it myself, but you could import from Japan (via an importer), but you'd be waiting for the car for a few months. It cuts out the Irish dealers, who understandably need to make their own profit too.

What fuel consumption are you expecting? Around town, you're not going to do much better than a Toyota Hybrid, unless you went for a PHEV / EV.

MPG isn't going to be spectacular on any large petrol/hybrid mpv. Low 30s at best.

Prius alpha + 7 seater be the best option for you but boot space may be an issue. You'd need to go and test drive one to see if it'd be big enough really.

You'd be looking at double the OP's budget for one of those and boot space with all 7 in use is only alright.

Had a look at a Honda Jade and Toyota Sienna today. Boot space is way too small and just a lack of space/legroom in the back rows in general. Will now consider diesels also if there's any bigger models within budget.

How much would you import a hybrid xc90 for, the ones for sale here are over your budget, 8 to 10k, you won't be left wanting for space.
