Communal Drain Restructuring

Hi, have had ongoing issues over a number of years with blockages in communal drain. We have persuaded most neighbours to stop putting wipes, sanitary products etc., into the system but blockages still occur. We recently had a drain company carry out a camera inspection, the costs of which were shared by all 9 houses connected to drain. They advised that the pipework was in good order, despite being over 50 yrs old but that the Ubend in the system seemed to be causing toilet paper etc., to stack up. They have suggested that we get a pipe straight out to main drain, bypassing the Ubend, and incorporating a non-return valve which could prevent rats getting into the system. Just wondering if anyone has had this job carried out and if it was successful??
