I was in Enniscrone over the week and was surprised to see the main street rejigged and when parking on the pier road noticed there was a massive amount of technical markings on the street in preparation for something, and on investigation its a fairly substantial project and not just yet another cycle lane

Locals might be following all this offline/ pandering to the fad of doing everything on closed Facebook community groups (seems to be rampant and possibly a reason for why boards is quieter than years ago) but it's news to me.

Planning permission has been granted for the development of a project that will transform Enniscrone.

Sligo County Council has given the green light to the Enniscrone and District Community Development Company for the reimagining of the town’s Cliff Walk Promenade, which will transform the way the town looks.

The Enniscrone Cliff Bath House, Pavilion and Promenade project proposal involves three phases, including the redevelopment of the Cliff Bath House, the replacement of the Pavilion Building in the Hollows with a contemporary building, and the provision of a significant public realm landscaping along the Cliff Walk, linking the two key buildings.

A seaside sauna and therapy centre are proposed as an appropriate use for the historic Cliff Bath House to ensure its heritage is protected into the future and to enhance the already existing seaweed baths nearby.

Getting Planning doesnt get a project built, but they also have funding secured and architects engaged and works progressing.

Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys TD, has announced funding of €8,474,869 for Enniscrone under the Rural Regeneration and Development Fund (RRDF).

The project will regenerate key seafront areas in Enniscrone. It includes the redevelopment of the historic Cliff Bath House, upgrading of the existing Cliff Walk and replacement of a derelict building to provide a new Community Pavilion. The project will strengthen the town centres tourism and public amenity offering.

For reference: the footpath / road reorganisation diagrams are here and there'll be less parking overall on the pier road.
