Gas central heating grant for oap

    Hi,

My parents are oaps, they have central heating from a solid fuel stove (coal and timber). They are getting too old now to be stocking and maintaining the stove.

I'm wondering if theres a grant for installing gas central heating? There is a main gas line on the road outside the front garden.

What's the procedure to get started with this? Contact gas networks Ireland to get the meter installed and then contact a registered gas plumber to install everything else?

How would the grant be handled if applicable?

Father has a contributory pension, mother non contributory.

Would really appreciate some guidance here.

Have a look at SEAI website.

Also call in to a citizen advice centre.

Please follow site and charter rules. "Resistance is futile"

‘Housing Aid for Older People’ Grant might be worth looking into.

Thanks, I'll look into those. Would the gas central heating be the cheapest form of heating? Obviously depends on usage.

    Oil might be cheaper.
Suggest costing both oil & nat gas options.
