Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I think this is a ridiculous supposition.

It's a giveaway budget so no scope for "Where's my NAMA, Joe?"

Finding misery and miserable baxtards is Liveline's raison d'etre. Have you no faith, cawlur?

F###### hell! You wouldn't want to be a smoker in this country. Another €1 price hike, making a typical box now €18.40. 😳

Vapes don't escape either. They're going from an average of €8, to €9.20. That increase though won't kick-in until sometime next year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,393 ✭✭✭LambshankRedemption

Like everything in this country I dont think the vape tax has been fully thought out. That hike is on the disposable vapes. No mention of my €4.50 10ml bottle.

they should concentrate on minimalizing the cigs, and leave the vapes alone if they are helping people quit

In years to come, the HSE will be used as a case study of how not to run a health service. Just like the Childrens hospital will be used as a study in how not to build a hospital.

A social welfare/pension double payment coming in October. It's usually in late November or early December. I wonder why it's so early. 🤔 It wouldn't be because they're going to hold the election in November, and the government are trying to get voters on their side?

This payment affects 1.2 million people voters.

    Small Benefit Exemption

The Small Benefit Exemption allows an employer to provide limited non-cash benefits or rewards to their workers without the payment of income tax, PRSI and USC.

I am increasing the annual limit provided for in the exemption from €1,000 to €1,500 and will also permit five non-cash benefits to be granted by an employer in a single year under this exemption. This change will allow greater flexibility to employers in giving non-tax rewards to their employees. This means that workers may receive up to three additional tax-free rewards or gifts, for instance to reward exceptional performance, or mark significant life events.

Joe will be thinking to himself he deserves these bonuses. He absolutely doesn't.

Virgin Media News asked a last of the high rollers smoker about what he thought about the increase in the price of cigarettes, he said he had cut back from 100 a day to 60, well done, well done.

That means if he was paying retail price for them here (about as likely as Joe being housed in de Áras next year), it would be about €31k a year going up in smoke, how the other half live so to speak 😂

Don't turn on 4fm, female OAPs effin n blindin about the budget, as they got "nuttin nuttin ah all", and price of fags gone up meaning they'll be making more trips to UK buying them duty free for £45 a carton.

Is that Niall Boylan? They only play him in the jacks in my new local while normal stuff goes on in the rest of the pub.

I went in for a pee and hung on in there for five minutes while they were moaning. I'll have to try and find if it's on podcast when I get home and get the full show.

Now that the Big Guy is back, how soon will a poster refer to an Irish dish which is often made to use up leftovers, most commonly consisting of layers of roughly sliced pork sausages and rashers (thinly sliced, somewhat-fatty back bacon) with chunky potatoes, sliced onion, salt, pepper, and herbs?
