Jeanty needs 90 yards in the second half to break the record, he only had 39 on 13 carries in the first. That's of course if the Broncos lose.

Penn state lead by 10, the way the game has gone it feels like the Nittany Lions should be up by more but they didn't make the most of their chances.

The weird one about the rushing record is that the bowl game Sanders played is not included in his record. If it was he'd have 2850 yards.

Jeanty is playing in a bowl game and his yards are included.

So Barry did 2628 in 11 games, Jeanty is playing his 14th game today.

Another dud. Have a longer post but it's a bit late to write it now! Hopefully ND do the business tomorrow!

Jeanty didn't get the record and I'm happy about that. They have two extra games in the regular season nowadays, it's totally unfair that bowl games are included when they weren't back when Sanders set the record. Surely they can retroactively add the yardage from the bowl games if they are going to allow them nowadays.

I would not call it a dud.

Penn State raced out to a 14 nothing lead and at that point it had dud written all over it, but Boise State then scored 14 to Penn State's 3 to make it a one score game.

I watched it from the second Penn State TD to their third.

It was a very watchable game during that period, I only went to bed at that point because it was late, I would have liked to continue watching.

Boise State never really looked like winning the game, but it was far from a blowout or dud like you do see in college football.

I'd expect Texas v Arizona State to be less competitive, the other two games should be good.

However I still think there should be changes to the seeding, giving a lower ranked conference winners a higher seed than a higher ranked team.

Pity ND v Georgia is on so late, even by US eastern time norms.

Ah yeah "a dud" is an exaggeration, it was alright. Hopefully that today's two later games will be good (obviously hope the early one is good as well but I think Texas will be way too strong). Think Oregon will run out winners. Notre Dame being given every chance, but I've been disappointed by them on so many big games down the years, they never seen to do it against the top teams. So I'll be very nervous but they have all the ingredients.

Texas off to a flyer here, 18 to 3 after 8 minutes, 2 TD straight away and Arizona not motoring at all. This could be a lonnnnggg game for Arizona unless they can get something going.

Georgia v Notre Dame game now postponed till Thursday due to tragedy in New Orleans. Nothing confirmed on time.

Understandable, if disappointing for the likes of us. Sport important but not all that important, and with the NO cops running about after this attack policing the Superdome crowd is too much of a drain on resources I guess. Last I heard was a 1pm local time start tomorrow.

Again, not important in the scheme of other events, but what does it mean for the semi final? The winners of this game has a pretty quick turn around to next Thursday, 48 hours less than Penn St will have. Will that get pushed back as well I wonder?

Sun Devils aren't out of this. Was sure they'd get the TD there, surprised they didn't try one pass play.

Still with the way their defense is playing you'd expect them to get more chances.

I think Texas have to find find a way to get the ground game going because Ewers is getting no time in the pocket.

Some media sources are saying 1:45am GMT (7:45pm CT, 8:45pm ET) again but that’s based on a literal interpretation of the “24 hours”.

There’s little scope to postpone the semi finals though that doesn’t involve them clashing with the NFL’s Super Wild Card weekend though.

Safety, that defense is vicious. They'll get food field position now and another chance to get a TD. If they do it'll be five points. I'm starting to fancy the upset.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,967 ✭✭✭theoneeyedman

Texas for all the hype not impressive thus far IMHO. Haven't really built yardage, an interception and one play RDS buy somehow Arizona still in touch even though their offence looks very ordinary.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,946 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

That's the end of it now. Two TDs with two point conversions needed to tie it up. It's not going to happen.

As regards Arizona's offense, the playcalling has been very poor. You gotta pass over the middle and go deep sometimes so the opposing D isn't all up stacking the box.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,946 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Wow, trick play, Skattebo pass for a TD and they get the two points. It's an 8 point game. A quick stop here and it's on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,946 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Interception, Arizona State have the ball.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,967 ✭✭✭theoneeyedman

    Wow, level now 😁

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,946 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Sun Devils get the TD, Skattebo 2 yard run, holding by Texas on the two point try, Skattebo in for the two pointer. All tied up with five minutes remaining. Can the Sun Devils come up with another big defensive effort? Go Arizona state.

    This is a great game.

What a comeback...just by coincidence I've happened to catch a couple of games with skattebo playing....

It's always been entertaining is all I can say

His father has gone from depression to disbelief in the space of about 5 mins

  • Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators Posts: 12,197 Mod ✭✭✭✭icdg

Unbelievable comeback by Arizona St. You couldn’t have seen it coming.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,946 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

At the two minute warning and Texas are in field goal range. A running play and then one more first down might do it for them. ☹️

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,238 ✭✭✭amacca

Holy ****....I was 100% he wasn't going to miss that

    Sarkisians face!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,946 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Texas miss the field goal. Arizona State have 1.39:with two timeouts to get a score and win it. Go Sun Devils!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,946 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

That has to be targeting. Defenseless receiver and he lowered the helmet slightly going in.

    I can't believe that wasn't called.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,238 ✭✭✭amacca

100% he got a helmet straight in the face mask

How it's not targeting would be an interesting explanation/bullshit

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,946 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

And it should have been called as unnecessary roughness on a defenseless receiver as well.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,238 ✭✭✭amacca

    Unreal, overtime.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,946 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Yeah it would have left a sour taste in the mouth if it had finished with a Texas field goal.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,238 ✭✭✭amacca

Omg ...what a qb run...this game continues to entertain

And then skattebo for the TD!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,946 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

    Shattebo is just incredible.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,946 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Now, can they stop Texas? Go Sun Devils!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,946 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

    Damnit.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,238 ✭✭✭amacca

Mind blown....2nd OT .wtf is happening....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,946 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

I feel so sad for the Arizona State players. Considered no hopers and they deserved to win that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,238 ✭✭✭amacca

In fairness the better team won....arizona heads dropped after that quick texas TD in 2nd overtime....could see the belief drain out of the Qb

Great game all the same and glad it wasn't over after that mental non targeting call

Yeah, really thought sun Devils were going to do it. Sad loss. Ewers upped his game at the end.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,967 ✭✭✭theoneeyedman

Some of them, especially Skattebo, looked out on their feet at the end. Not overly impressed by Texas TBH, the better side and all, but did their beat to lose it with dldimb plays (young lads will do that land some dumb calls, really poor clock management late on in regulation

  • Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators Posts: 12,197 Mod ✭✭✭✭icdg

Crazy ending to that game. Arizona State’s comeback all for nothing in the end.

The Rose Bowl has a lot to live up to - with the Big 10 not being on TV here, this is our first chance to see No 1 Oregon in action. OSU are up 7-0 in early play.

Meanwhile kick off time for the Sugar Bowl has reportedly been set for 9pm GMT tomorrow.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 143 ✭✭rogeyspoint

Ohio on fire, unbelievable pass by Howard to Egbuka to get their 2nd TD.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,967 ✭✭✭theoneeyedman

An ill wind I know, but a 4pm start tomorrow for the Sugar bowl, which is a good time for us European based folk. Big first Quarter for Ohio.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,946 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

This is really starting to look.like a blowout. What's going on is a big shock. It was so close between them in the regular season.

Ducks are disappointing, can't get any pressure on Howard. So much time.

Yeah, at least I'll be able to stay awake for that one😉

Yea, totally different this time. Looks like its Ohio's now.

  • Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators Posts: 12,197 Mod ✭✭✭✭icdg

I’ve seen very little of the Big Ten this season, but Oregon really aren’t playing like the No 1 team in America. A glimmer of hope at the end though but the way back looks too much.

  • Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators Posts: 12,197 Mod ✭✭✭✭icdg

And ultimately that was the case. OSU only scored one TD in the second half. They didn’t need anything else. Too high a mountain for Oregon.

OSU now go to Texas for the SF at the Cotton Bowl Classic on Friday week.
