Question on cable placement for an install

I had some work done yesterday to install diverter/battery/fireman switch. Cable runs from roof (fireman switch) outside house..along the side of the house at ground level. My question is if that is correct placing of the cable? Should it not run along the side of the house above head height so its less likely to be snagged?

For reference the cable comes back up the side of the house to go into the utility room and then back down and along the side again to the meter near the front of the house.

Minimum, should be in pvc conduit or trunking.

Can I also hijack thread for asking same question? My father had an install done a few weeks ago and I took a look and am very unimpressed with the finish. Not sure if it is passable or not. I don't particularly want to encourage him to kick off as he's "okay" with the work, but if this is not safe could someone let me know? I'm specifically not loving the electric cables across the downpipes, and just generally think they've done a grubby job that wouldn't have required much more time/effort to finish more nicely.

Ffs, another quality install. At least they used some containment for the dc cables. It might be just untidy rather than dangerous, but I would wonder if it's that shite on the surface, then what's it like in the areas we can't see.

On one hand it's not ideal to route around a soil and gutter pipe, but there was already a precedent there in terms of the steel piping. But if the installers were to start dismantling soil stacks and gutters then they'd be in a world of pain and cost and these installs just wouldn't be happening at all… so there is a trade-off, but the electrical regulator is going to have to decide on whether these types of layouts are acceptable or not.

That black cable on the left enters the house at a down angle - moisture will run down that and into the house in no time at all and is a novice / careless mistake.
