My girlfriend had to move due to rent increases and now her apartment is in a somewhat more dodgy street in East wall. I'm abroad, so can't be of much help but she expressed to me also that it's not great at night. It's not terrible most of the time, but unfortunately she works nights and sometimes has to walk 1-2 blocks…

What do you mean she's probably being well minded already?
But anyway, I wouldn't feel safe alone at night anywhere out and about - whether most attacks are by people known to the victim or not. It's still a risk, even if low, and I don't think muggings are carried out by people known to the victim.
