Norris talked about a yellow flag in his interview. Karun at Sky said something about a white flag - a quick google suggests this is for a slow moving car and I think at the time there was an Alpine (possibly Ocon) crawling around.

The marshal was waving a white flag at Ocon, as Norris got to turn 15 the light board was flashing yellow but he also ran wide on the exit of turn 16

    Just watched quali now.

Lando very disappointing. I get that he may or may not have had a yellow flag on his final run (sky didn't clarify during qualifying coverage, maybe they did afterwards?), but very poor that he hadn't a better banker in.

Any questions about his suitability for a championship tilt will be confirmed tomorrow. The true competitors make their way back through the pack, will be do same?

I assume somebody in Williams is getting fired too?

Seems harsh but them are the rules.

Not the greatest or most exciting of quali sessions I must say. A pity as Baku us normally good. I think if Calapinto does well tomorrow he might get Driver of the day. He has done well so far.

Great lap from Charles. I hope he wins tomorrow.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

Meant to add, a particularly poor bit of coverage from sky too. Harry Benjamin is, in my mind anyway, crap. He has an over the top fake voice and stuff, but whatever. But himself and Karun seemed to not work particularly well together. And they seemed to be missing stuff too.

Bernie Collins was there and she can do no wrong, but it still felt like very much a 3rd string set up from sky.

I think you are spot on that the 2 of them don't combine well. I don't mind Benjamin when he commentates at F2, but that could be down to having Alex Brundle next to him who I really like as a commentator.

This has to be my favourite thing about Baku, they marked the spot where Hamilton went straight on in 2021

I wonder how Logan Sargeant feels watching Colapinto. I know this track suits the car but that was a very impressive quali from a complete F1 rookie. He looks a bit like a young Senna which doesn't hurt either.

Lewis Hamilton starting from pits today, he's taking a new engine…

Eventful start to the race in F2. Kush Maini's car didn't get off the line and 2 of the back markers drove into him. Red flagged, waiting for the restart now.

That was a big crash in F2, glad to see everyone is alright especially when a car goes upside down

Big 90s F1 vibes from that.

I'm surprised that the red flag wasn't thrown quicker from that clip anyway...

First time properly checking in this weekend, I feel like a reserve driver who gets called for the race and I havn't a clue about how this will go.

Not sure if any cars have put more into set up for the race than qualifying and vice versa.

    Looking forward to it.

    Good morning/afternoon.

Nice time for the race considering some of the other sport on today. Some of the best drivers are further back than you’d expect and Baku is usually a good track. Could be a good one.

Hopefully this is chaotic. Mixed up grid will help

Afternoon folks. Come on Max, just score more points than Lando and I'll be happy. 😁

Expect piastri to drive away with this..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,698 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

    Let the race by exciting.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,698 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

These first couple of laps were annoyingly clean.

I could see the hole in the sidepod on Tsunoda's car when Norris passed him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,662 ✭✭✭✭ctrl-alt-delete

Looks like any overtaking at the front will be done in the pits.

    It's a bit of an No-DRS train

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 499 ✭✭niallm77

PIastri extension to stint 1 maybe?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,414 ✭✭✭✭flazio

Any chance the race is going to get going anytime soon?

    This too shall pass.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,418 ✭✭✭RoryMac

Hopefully things pickup soon, was expecting an exciting race but so far not much

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,943 ✭✭✭Jacovs

safety car now would be great for Norris and McLaren

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,282 ✭✭✭PsychoPete

This seems very comfortable for Leclerc, hopefully it stays that way

    Not great from McLaren here…

McLaren not learning from Canada and Silverstone how the undercut works. Ffs

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,414 ✭✭✭✭flazio

    Good team play from Norris.

    This too shall pass.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,662 ✭✭✭✭ctrl-alt-delete

Not as comfortable for LeClerc as Sky tried to make out.

Piastri and Perez right behind him fighting, albeit Albon is in-between.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,188 ✭✭✭standardg60

Leclerc lost a massive amount of time there somehow, was six seconds clear before the pitstops

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,282 ✭✭✭PsychoPete

A win for Leclerc here makes the championship between himself and Norris very interesting, with Singapore up next which could be another good weekend for Ferrari

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,662 ✭✭✭✭ctrl-alt-delete

    Piastri takes the lead..

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 10,669 Mod ✭✭✭✭Andrew76

    Brilliant from Piastri.

Really well done from Piastri there

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,698 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

    nice move from piastri.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,943 ✭✭✭Jacovs

The Ferrari just not Ferrari-ing on the hard tyres it seems.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,619 ✭✭✭✭errlloyd

Was Piastri legally defending (genuine question) I want him to win, but I was worried he was all over the place.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,418 ✭✭✭RoryMac

Great move by Piastri, thought some of his defending after the overtake was a bit wild.

LeClerc lost a lot of time around the pitstop for some reason. Ferrari not looking fast on the hard tire

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,662 ✭✭✭✭ctrl-alt-delete

Bit Murray Walkeresque commentary there as Sainz overtakes Norris.

Great onboard footage there with Verstappen behind Norris.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,418 ✭✭✭RoryMac

Getting spicy between Max and Lando

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 10,669 Mod ✭✭✭✭Andrew76

Norris a bit cheeky changing direction under breaking on the start straight it looked like.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,418 ✭✭✭RoryMac

Max struggling to get past Norris on much newer tires shows how much he's struggling with the car right now
