Employer not paying salary on due date

I'm paid monthly, the last 2 bank Holidays salary was 4 days after due date. Up to last Friday I still had not been paid for August, I told employer on monday when I get paid for last month I will attend work, money arrived in account at lunchtime and I went to work was called in & told they were not happy that i did not attend work until today. I told him I live from month to month, embarrassingly I had to borrow from friend& family to pay bills and did not have money to put petrol in my car. What rights do I have? He seems to think he has the right to treat employees like this. Others were not paid either.

is it a sign he is struggling to make enough to pay you or just being casual about things

it’s a sign they may not be in business long. They are possibly stressed out as much if not more than you.

I’d looking at job opportunities.

I did think financial problems, but he told me he wasgetting a new car but he is paying HP. They have taken over more offices and are doing them up, I will be retiring at end of year, so I am trying to stay cool till then

Ah, then you’re likely grand.

It is a bit of a worry financially that you are living pay check to pay check coming up to 65. But, that’s beyond the scope of this thread.
