Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Lean to shed / bike storage - permission required?

    Hello everybody,

I was planning to build a bike storage shed sized 5' by 10', leaning to the back part wall which is 6' tall. My plan was to build it in such a way that it wouldn't stick above the wall cap, but my friend told me it might be a problem that could require planning permission as "the wall might not be suitable to carry the weight of construction".

While this is a solid point, I fail to understand how the lightweight construction of the shed might ruin the wall, especially given the fact that I was planning to lay a 3" thick concrete foundation next to the wall.

I also saw a couple of lean-to sheds built over the side gate walkways, usually on top of the side part wall, I don't think any of these people were getting planning permission to build them.

Would anybody have any experience solving this problem by any chance?

    Thanks!

    No issues whatsoever.

It would only if it was protruding forward of the building line of the house that an issue could arise - eg if you built it in the front garden
