it’s very hard (basically impossible) to give you any type of estimate as it will depend heavily upon your household income, savings and the individual CWO assigned to your application.

You will receive enough for basic furniture and appliances but you’d be better off trying to top up the amount with your own savings or income if you can as you’d otherwise end up with half of what you need! I know someone with a family of 4 (2 adults + two kids), they received a cheque for around €5000.

Thanks for answering…much obliged. Well, we don't have any savings and we don't want to reloan our existing loan…€ 5000,- would be the top I think.

I don't know if every authority does this, but some ask for three quotes for everything you need and you will get the cheapest based on what they determine is a need.

If you have no items you will get €5000 as a family. It's the exceptional needs payment. You have to apply for it but you will get it. Doesn't matter if you have savings once its not 50 thousand or more. It takes about a week to be issued and it will go to your nominated bank account. Congratulations on the new house. They don't call and check what you have anymore 😉.

There is no grant its an exceptional needs payment. It will depend on your circumstances but generally speaking you will submit quotes, and the CWO will determine what payment, if any will be made.

As others have said it's the Additional needs payment you need to be looking for but it is means Tested & they'll request bank statements, proof of savings etc.

You'll need proof you have been assigned a Home from your local Authority & a breakdown of items required including non white goods, Beds etc.

It may be difficult to get Quotes for everything but would help if you can get them. There's technically no limit to amount payable but think carefully about what is required.

DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING & EXCEPT DSP TO REFUND / PAY FOR IT, THAT'S NOT HOW THE SCHEME WORKS.

The amount is not guaranteed and anyone saying 5k is leading you up the garden path.

Enclose a copy of your tenancy agreement, 3 months bank statements, details of loan. A letter from council saying what is provided in the house.

Everyone is treated in their need . Make sure to sign the form
