Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Just looking at the archive there, I searched for articles on car safety from the early-mid 90s. This was a time when there was a lot of hype about side impact beams etc. but it was before EuroNCAP. A lot of stuff in the archive which seems as though it came from manufacturers' morkeshing departments which isn't surprising as how else would a magazine write about safety in the absence of independent crash testing. Autocar had a lot about the safety of the NG Saab 900 and gave it awards - yet that car then performed very poorly in EuroNCAP. I think this shows how lucky we are to have initiatives like NCAP instead of relying on magazines.

Also, a lot of subjective stuff in Autocar about "dynamics" i.e. ride and handling, a lot of it probably bollocks. E.g. according to Autocar, the facelifted Peugeot 405 from 1992 on was not as crisp to drive as the pre facelift due to "softer compression, heavier duty dampers" needed to "preserve" the car's ride comfort with the new stiffer bodyshell. Sounds like utter claptrap.
