Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

just wondering if everything has gone online or can you still open an account and get an actual post office book ? Grandparents want to do it for my DD and just realised they might not even be a thing any more ?

Post Office books are certainly still in use, I actually made a transaction 5 days ago in the GPO in Dublin with my PO book.

Having said that, I don't know if An Post are still issuing new books - my one was issued in 2021.

It's called a Post Office Savings Bank Deposit Account (POSB), is specifically not available online and is 'book based' so precisely what the OP is looking for.

Worth noting that if the kid is over the age of 7 and gets their hands on the book, they can ramble down to the post office and withdraw money (up to a daily limit of €3,000) without the approval of an adult…

    • The POSB Account can be operated by an account holder aged 7 years or more without the consent of the child's parent or guardian
