Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

So I'm with Gomo living in the back end of nowhere and the phone signal inside one end of the house is terrible. ( One end is very good)

I'd like to purchase a device to repeat / boost signal. At a minimum to get and receive a call would be great..4g mobile internet would be a bonus.

I don't have WiFi. I don't plan to get it.

    What's the best device?

    Dual band repeater, 800 & 900 MHz, for 4g data & 2g/3g calls respectively

Manufactured by Waterford based company Stelladoradus

Thanks, looks good but costs €700. That's our of my budget.

    Any other lower price options?

    Unfortunately they are expensive units.

You will come across cheap but illegal Asian imports if you search online.

These imports can cause network interference to operators or even mobile users in the area. In such circumstances Comreg's signal interference people can investigate and sieze any illegal equipment on your property.

They can and do sieze illegal imports in the post too.

Before mobile repeaters were legalised by Comreg, about 6 years ago, two of my brothers used these illegal boosters. They were cheap for a reason as the never lasted that long , high failure rate and didn't work very well.

Before they were legalised one of my brothers imported the Irish Stelladoradus unit from France, it was legal to use there. Even though it was manufactured here it couldn't be sold here at the time. Still going strong approximately 7 years later.

Three of us use mobile repeaters due to our rural location, the mast we use is almost 9 Kms away.

Could you use bluetooth headphones with voice assistant, so you can make calls, and leave the phone where the signal is good?

If you mainly use calls on Whatsapp you could use a spare phone and hotspot off it to your main phone. Leave spare phone in good signal spot. Phone will act as router.

May not get best signal on other end of house. Worth test if you have spare phone lying around.

Edit: this workaround will prob need another sim card so not best option
