Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Any help will be appreciated.

I got married to my husband in 2018 in Nigeria, we had a child in 2019 & 2021.

He never lived here, he just came twice a year and stayed for a month or less each time.

Dec 2020 was the last time me were cordial, we barely spoke through out the pregnancy, but he visited when I had the baby in 2021.

We haven't spoken since March 2022 when he came to renew his residency, albeit we haven't really been in any intimate relationship since Dec 2020.

I informed him the marriage isn't serving me or any purpose & I want a divorce. He said I should bring the kids to Nigeria, if I want a divorce. I have no family or anyone back there and he wants to take the kids.

The kids don't know him, no communication whatsoever.

He has paid maintenance for the kids till 2023, a total of €350 per child per annum, through a friend.

Is there a way I can file for a divorce here in Ireland?.

I know his address but that's all, Not a single call since March 2022, so can't ascertain his number. I have no details of his family or whereabouts.

Filing for divorce in Nigeria will be a long process for me, as I don't know who to contact, he wants the kids, and because Nigeria is corrupt, he may actually take the kids who are Irish and never been to Nigeria.

Is there a way I can file for a divorce in Ireland, an in expensive way, as I don't have much funds to spare.

I want to move on without that attachment of being married.

    Thanks

You can apply here but it will be a long and incredibly frustrating process. The Irish courts are extremely loathe to allow proceedings to move forward without both parties present, so they will adjourn and adjourn and adjourn to give him the opportunity to appear. You will be blue in the face telling them that he's not going to engage and they'll still err on the side of caution, as they see it.

Good luck, you're in for a long slog.
