Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

What is the best pub in Castlebar. Maybe you like the sporting talk of Auld Stocks ? The romantic booths of Bridge street. The fast pace of Coxes ? Do you rock out in Rocky's ? What is the best Castlebar pub of 2024 …?

It depends on what you're looking for as you say.

Although the number of pubs in Castlebar has halved since the late 90s there are lots of great pubs to cater for all.

Bridge Street in my opinion is the best pub in town. Lovely Guinness, lots of local beer on tap (not dictated to by the big companies) Pizza truck on weekends, live comedy,Trad sessions during the day,Salsa classes, even a chess club!

Lots more I can't think of but also ambitious local based owners who are well on the way to extending the building.

Having said all that there's so many other great pubs.

    Irish House

    Rockies

    Johnny McHales

    Mick Brynes

Bungalow (upped it's game with new management)

    Barrel And Castle

Coxes or Bar One for some nice food (also Coxes later on for a bit of madness and messiness!)

Special mention to the Cobweb who rarely get mentioned. If you're in town on a weds night it's the place to be,full folk and rock session there every week.
