Speedmaster running 10 seconds fast per day

Hi, I bought an Omega Speedmaster and noticed it's running 10 seconds fast per day. I demagnitized it (or so I think) and it hasn't worked. It's still under warranty so I could send it back to the dealers in Lithuania. However, I'm wondering how I can do this the easiest way? I've read An Post won't insure such an item and I don't want to travel up to Belfast to send it via Royal Mail. Are there any courier services I can use that provide insurance?

I've no experience with Omega but assuming it gained ten sec all of a sudden I'd do as you have and de mag.

Can I ask, what did you use, exactly how did you use it and how many times?

it’s it under Omega warranty? Or a second hand dealer?

I've used IrishParcels to ship a Speedie north to NI, but the insurance is often limited.

You'll get about 1500 or 2k, but beyond that it is limited.

If it has just been shipped, it is possible it got magnetised as a result of all the scanning on the way.

I've just shipped a Rolex with UPS to Germany. I've done the same to the US before as well. About €90 insured for €6k in both cases.

is it a new model speedmaster ?Also how long have you worn it .10 seconds per day isn’t unusual if it’s an older movement and in need of a service.

I was going to ask if 10sec per day is even outside the spec? Are Speedies Cosc or Metas certified?

my 1861 is neither ,3861 is metas .Even metas is 5sec per day and that’s an average over a number of positions is my understanding.So in theory you could be 10 secs out on one of the positions.Who uses their watch to tell the time anyway.

Is it new or used?

If new just pop into a local AD, warranty should be valid here too.

Yup, it's a 24 year old 1863 model. It was meant to be fully serviced though.

Id say its within expectations so .Thats not to say it couldnt be improved by someone familir with that movement but I wouldnt think its a warranty claim.

10 seconds a day is fine. Most of my watches are slow by 10-20 secs a day - pretty certain my Speedmaster runs slow.
