Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Could an unscrupulous mechanic stop fault codes from showing? I had a major repair done. Now the car won't start but no fault codes are showing.

It's read codes on the same car before

What type of car and the issues that came up before. We had 3 scanners in the garage and one picked up more fault codes. Try the second key yet ?

Nha don’t think you can do that. Can clear them but they come back eventually

Faults come back because car has an issue and needs to be repaired , hence why you need to know where to look and for what.

in what way does the car not start?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,922 ✭✭✭✭Discodog

It's a diesel xtrail. Became reluctant to start & now refuses to. Thought it was the glow plugs but they test ok.

Google issues for your model as might come up with a common issue.

So the glow pugs are getting a feed and you checked it to see if the correct voltage is there?

Do you know remember what the fault codes were?

Ignore the lack of codes, not everything will show one. Look at live data when cranking, rpm signal & rail pressure especially.Maybe air flow as well. See if the EGR pipe gets warm after cranking,it may be stuck open. Prime the plastic bulb near the fuel filter, prone to crack & draw air.

Its possible with a remap to remove codes from showing, very common in the cheap dpf removal world for the remap to just disable all the fault codes instead of just the dpf.

Also there are obd fault codes which a cheap reader can read and manufacturer specific faults codes which cheap readers won't be able to see.
