Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Future of Retailing in Ireland

I work in a store on a high street. I have to say the outlook going forward is grim. Footfall is weak. Lack of parking is a killer. For us the use of a nearby hotel for Ukrainians is also not helping as a lot of our trade is visitors. Theft is on the increase. Online retailing is really starting to bite with the likes of Shein, Temu and Wish. This is only going to get worse. This threatens retailers who are currently in locations with strong footfall. Our customer base is old and not being replaced by younger people. Rates for High Street units seem very expensive vis a vis retail parks. Another killer is ever increasing costs year on year squeezing margins.

I think convenience stores, Hardware stores and furniture stores are probably not in threat from online but every other sector particularly clothes are vulnerable.
