iran sends serious warning to US after Biden indicates he was discussing attack on their oil facilities.. looks like Israel/US will have to go in hard if they decide to strike back for Tueday's Iranian attack on Israel..

"Iran warns US that any country that helps Israeli attack will be a 'legitimate target'

Iran has warned Washington that a large Israeli strike will lead to attacks on Israeli infrastructure and any country that aids such an attack will be deemed an Iranian target.

In a statement issued by Iran’s mission at the UN in New York, Iran said:

Should any country render assistance to the aggressor, it shall likewise be deemed an accomplice and a legitimate target. We advise countries to refrain from entangling themselves in the conflict between the Israeli regime and Iran and to distance themselves from the fray.

Iran also stressed no messages to “aggressors” will be sent except through the Swiss diplomats, the country designated to transmit Iranian messsages to the US. There had been claims that Iran was using Qatar as an intermediary with the US." (Guardian UK)

What's most interesting this time compared to previous Israeli murder sprees is that the word Genocide is being widely used across the internet.

When the media were easier to control Israel the conflict could be presented as a two sided conflict, but with the internet the world sees Palestinians record the US protected genocide machine.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,365 ✭✭✭✭Danzy

Also everything online is presented in hyperbolic fashion.

    Click bait headlines.

So one of the smallest conflicts in the middle east in the last 50 is now a genocide.

It's a hard war but not a patch on the rest .

Iran can threaten America like that because there is isn't anyone in charge in America at the moment.

Gaza is much smaller and the coverage was much clearer for the world to see. It was easy to see the damage the huge bombs were doing to civilians. You could see the people being rushed to the ambulances with horrific injuries. That was until the IDF started murdering the Press and banning Al Jazeera to prevent people seeing the Genocide up close.

we all know what real genocide is - armenians being slaughtered by the turks, the nazi holocaust, the soviet famine in ukraine

israel defending itself against hamas, hezbollah, houthis and iran doesnt even come remotely close

Russia is currently talking to the Houthis, Iran as intermediary, about delivering them high end anti ship missiles.

It will be the end of the Red Sea route for a long time if that happens.

But didn't you know?..the Nazis were just defending themselves against the Jews. The Germans has a right to exist. The evil allies and communists were hiding behind the Jews and using them as human shields. Yes I know millions of them died but its an unfortunate price to pay to killing them Bolshevik terrorists threatening Germanys existence......

US Army medical personnel famously didn't wear any distinguishing markings in Vietnam because they were seen as high value targets to snipers. The enemy would know that killing a medic meant other injured soldiers had a higher probability of dying from sustained wounds. It also severely dented morale to take out the medic because the soldiers know they would have nobody to treat any potential future wounds.

Marking could be worn in other conflicts where rules of war and norms were respected. It seems though that the zionists are more in line with the Vietcong way of thinking.

G7 wrap Iran on the knuckles

In the statement, G7 leaders said they condemned “in the strongest terms” Iran’s military attack against Israel earlier this week, which they said “constitutes a serious threat to regional stability.”

“We unequivocally reiterate our commitment to the security of Israel,” G7 leaders said, adding that Iran’s “seriously destabilising” actions in the region “must stop.”

It's a horrible situation, and as much as a critic of Israel I can be myself, it's a clusterfeck of all parties involved. If only there were any adult leaders in the world to bring it to a halt :(

Even if I accepted this, it makes no difference. The question surrounds Israel's existence. Iran and its proxies are very clear - as are their allies in the Western Left - that Israel should not exist as a Jewish state. Full stop. It would make no difference if they withdrew to the '67 borders or even the '47 borders. If anything, it would make things worse as it would just give Israel's enemies better geography to attack them.

    Warning: sarcasm ahead.

    Sure, there's no equivalency.
I mean, just because the missiles and drones flying into both Kyiv and Tel Aviv come from Iran,
or that the attackers of both Ukraine and Israel have made it clear that their quarrels are a fight to the death,
or that the attackers of both have made it clear there are no rules, as neither Russia nor Hamas nor Hezbollah seem to care much for international law or rules of conflict,
or that the attackers of both are all allies (Russia, Iran, Hamas, Hezbollah and the Houthis),
or because the ratio of land, population and resources heavily favour the aggressors in both cases (both Iran and Russia are much bigger in every respect that Israel and Ukraine),
or because the attackers are both autocracies while the the victims are both democracies (albeit questionably so to some extent in Israel, but it's still close),
    doesn't mean there's any equivalency.

If you selectively ignore all the key aspects of both struggles showing them to be almost identical in every conceivable respect, it would indeed require a "really warped mind" to "draw an equivalency."

(I really miss the rolling eyes smiley as it would have been useful here).

'' Put to sleep.'' Well they must have anesthetics then. They wouldn't allow any in for the children of Gaza.

Lovely language and I don't know why it hasn't been challenged yet.

8 Israeli soldiers put to sleep yesterday, looks like a further 7 at least today.

See we can all do it.

over the last 20 years there has been growing support within the state of Israel both politically and as demonstrated amongst its citizens and also in certain hierarchical positions of the EU…for Israel to join the EU. If they apply for membership I hope and of course expect the rest of the EU to firmly but politely close the door on the possibility of their ascension. There is genuinely zero benefit to such a wayward and violent nation to join the EU.

There would be issues as regards EU law such as Israel not being technically in Europe, but neither is half of Turkey… so that could be cited as a precedent of sorts…

But it’s hostile relationships towards so many of its neighbours in that region, is simply shocking….and not conducive to them being EU members,

The Israeli military said the now 21-year-old's captor in Gaza had been killed during the ongoing war between Israel and the Palestinian armed group Hamas, probably as a result of an air strike.

Pretty accurate probable airstrike, to kill her captor and not harm her

I think Israel is close to attacking certain targets in Iran Bibi is a hawk he does not need encouragement the problem is democrats feel they cannot afford to lose the jewish vote

Theres a military industrial complex in America the send missiles and bombs to Israel think America can go helping Israel for another 20 years

The clock is ticking I'f Israel intends to attack Iran it's best to do it before Iran develops nuclear weapons if you want to be cynical about it

Its hard for Biden to criticize because bibi this close to a presidental election

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,907 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

in terms of landmass. Iran is about 7 times bigger than the UK.

So however Iran is to be dealt with, and whoever deals with them. That’s of primary importance.

in terms of landmass Iran is around 79 times bigger than Israel.

In terms of landmass Ireland is around 3.38 times bigger than Israel.

Luxembourg is even slightly bigger then Israel.

In terms of active military personnel Iran has about 610,000, Israel has about 169,500

So whatever about the Israeli nuclear arsenal, if any significantly militarised country decides that they want to dispose of Israel off the map, or thoroughly rearrange its topography and population count, it’s going to be quite doable… iron dome or otherwise…

I would counter by suggesting that it is much more warped to condemn one band of murdering genocidal terrorist thugs (Russians) while providing cover for another (Iran and their proxies). Especially when the two are allies fighting the same war.🤔

To prove my point: we know what the Russians have to do to end the war - if they left Ukraine that would be end of the war right then and there. Literally, the second Russia leaves Ukraine, all the weapons are silent.

Since you claim that Israel is more comparable to Russia than Ukraine, tell me what actions must the the ~7 million Jews who live in that tiny country do to end the multiple wars against them? What concessions could Israel make that would appease Iran and its proxies stop terrorising and murdering their people and trying to wipe them off the map?

At any rate, we now have more information about the Israeli airstrike on the Russian airbase in Syria. I guess Israeli intelligence has been watching the love fest between Russia, Iran, Hamas, Hezbollah etc and decided that the Russkies were sending a little too many goodies to Hezbollah, and decided to send them a message in a language they knew the Russkies would understand. In doing so, they may have helped Ukraine as they showed Russia's "red lines" to be nonsense.

You do actually understand that Israel and Iran are separated by other countries.

Nobody is talking about an Iranian ground invasion of Israel or an Israeli ground invasion of Iran, it's impossible.

Any wider war between the two would be a long range war, and for that Israel is much better equipped.

It's air force is vastly superior. Like, Iraqi Gulf War v Coalition better.

It's air defense systems are incomparably better. It's technology is vastly superior.

These aren't opinions, they are facts.

So no, the idea that Iran could somehow easily defeat Israel because it's a bigger country is complete and utter fantasy.

Could Iran cause damage to Israel? Does it have huge amounts of missiles? Yes and obviously, in a war, it absolutely could.

But actually "dispose of Israel"…..that is absolutely fantasy stuff.

I have no idea idea why some people on this thread are trying to hype up the Iranian military but it's not based on the real world reality at all.

Also, what other countries are you referring to? Because Saudi Arabia, Eygpt, or other surrounding countries with reasonable military power have absolutely zero interest in attacking Israel.

The clock is ticking I'f Israel intends to attack Iran it's best to do it before Iran develops nuclear weapons if you want to be cynical about it

An attack on Iran beyond the usual cock waving could lead to Iran actually producing nuclear warheads if they haven't already.

For good reason, nuclear weapons are used for deterrence.

If Bibi and his Ghouls go ahead and attack Iran's reactors the US will have little choice to step in and neuter Israel to some degree.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,694 ✭✭✭jackboy

However Israel attack Iran, the US will know in advance and give the go ahead, even if they deny knowledge afterwards.

People are giving Israel a hard time here, forgetting that Israel have the support of the west. A few politicians in Europe mouthing off does not mean that Israel are not being supported as much as they need to do what they are doing.
