    Hi,

Have just switched from Vodafone to Pure because of a better deal. I got a text from Vodafone which mentioned returning equipment to a Dublin address by Freepost. To be honest, I don’t want the hassle of it, but am just worried that they may charge me if I don’t.

Has anyone any recent experience of this?

You can also drop them into a Vodafone Store which is handy if you don't want to go to the effort of posting it back.

I still have mine a year later, never heard a word from them about what to do with it so I'll drop it into my local store, cheers 👍🏻

I tried that and the store said they couldn't, even though customer service says they could, but they did give me a prepaid/labelled post bag, so it was still worth it

I dropped mine into a non Vodafone owned store and they accepted it without any issue. I dropped my parents one into a Vodafone owned store and on both occasions they just took it and chucked it into the back. They didn't ask for account details on either occasion and took 2 mins total. Must depend on who you get on the day eh

Ha ha, seems I was unlucky then 🙈

Just an update on this, I dropped the router into my local Vodafone shop this afternoon. Absolutely no problem accepting it.

    Many thanks for the suggestion!

I had the same issue a few years back. Tried to drop it into the Vodafone store in Drogheda but they wouldn't take it as they were a franchise store.

Can I ask how do you actually cancel Vodafone broadband so I can change supplier. Don’t find their app or website particularly good for providing this info or contact info,

    TIA

Ring the call centre in India, enjoy!

Usually there's no need to call Vodafone to cancel if you are changing suppliers, the new supplier usually handles all that as part of the migration.

Dropped mine into the Vodafone shop in The Square, they took it no problems.

Dropped mine to a Vodafone shop. And cancelled my DD via online banking. I got stroppy correspondence from Vodafone a few months later telling me that I owed them for a router!

I informed them that I left it back with a Vodafone store. They didn't contact me again. I got the impression that they don't have much of a recording system of when you drop your router back to the shop. I reckon you could say you dropped it back to a shop and hang on to and they would be none the wiser. If you were that way inclined.

Ring 1907, but be prepared for the sales talk! When I told them that I definitely wanted to move they sent a follow up text with my UAN etc which the new provider needed.

so I emailed Pure, they said I just needed to give them the CRN number on my Vodafone bill & that was it, Vodafone will send out a final bill, hopefully it works that way.

I would assume a visit to a local Post Office would be less effort that a vodafone store?

Maybe for some but if you live near a Vodafone store you can literally chuck it in in 2 mins, no need to box up, wrap up, package it up to post it back etc. Post Office and VF store are 4 doors apart where I am and easier throw it into Vodafone in my mind.

I had two Vodafone routers which they refused to accept at their stores, promised me to collect them with a courier several times but never did. So in the end I just disposed them.

I dropped a vodafone router in to their Omni store, wouldn't give me a receipt for it. Took a photo of it on the counter showing the barcode on the back. Actually never heard from them…
