[Resolved] Banned from soccer forum

I was banned from the Soccer forum for one month because I said that Irish fans booing English players were idiots. I didn't abuse anybody on the thread. I wasn't happy about the ban as I didn't see it as being outside the rules but in the end I accepted the ban.

I am only back on the forum when I'm suddenly banned again. This time my comments were not against the charter.

    This was my post:

Ipswich, Southampton, Brighton, Leicester, Wolves and many more cannot possibly attain a following like clubs in London, Manchester and Liverpool.

Do.you not care about clubs from smaller towns? Do you think it's fair to them to suffer because they represent a smaller population?

This is what the moderator had to say about it.

    Manchester City are in Manchester.

You are warned for posting in a contrary to deliberately disrupt discussion in this thread. Not for the first time when it comes to Man City either. You are only back from your last warning. This time it is a 3 month forum ban as your last was one month.

As you can see I never mentioned Manchester City. Prior to this there was discussion about Manchester City but I'd moved on to saying I'd love to see a salary cap in the Premier league to give smaller clubs a chance at success. How the moderator sees this as having any relation to Manchester City, other than they are resident in one of the big cities I mention, is beyond me.

I'm not sure what's going on.

I make mistakes sometimes where I respond to smarmy answers with more smarmy responses and that's got me in trouble in the past but I don't do that anymore.

I do have opinions about things and I'm not afraid to be different. By being different I mean I don't hate football teams and I'm able to look at both sides of things. This has led to me being accused of being a fan of an unpopular club because everything I say about them isn't a bad thing. This happens even though I make it very clear in almost every post that I don't like the club. There's lots of posters on the soccer forum with very strong opinions on Manchester City and they tend to try and gang up on you but that doesn't affect me like it might others. I've been accused of being a troll which I am not.

I don't understand how I'm being banned for the post above. I feel like I'm being victimised here.

    Link to the thread.

Hi eagle eye - apologies for not replying but no notification or tagging alerteed me to your DRP.

Can you confirm you have engaged with the Mod in question and if so, please post the discussion here or via PM.

I posted the pm as regards him informing me of the ban above.

    My response to that:
Is there any chance you can explain this to me. I'd like to know what this has to do with Manchester City? What part of making a case for the smaller clubs in the league is against the charter?

    Mod reply:

You inserted yourself into a discussion with (in my view) clear intent to disrupt the conversation in bad faith by deflecting and trying to trivialise the complaints people had.

I have no particular opinion on rights or wrongs of the discussions that people were having but it is obvious your engagement was disruptive and an attempt to detail the discussion.

I will not be reversing the warning as I have already applied leniency by applying a forum yellow/1 point warning instead of a forum red infraction/2 point infraction warning.

If you wish I can ask other mods to look at it if you wish and if any want to reverse it they can. Another option is to go to DRP to have a CMOD review the warnings.

In that he says I inserted myself into a discussion. I initiated the discussion about a salary cap.

I agreed to have other mods take a look at it and he sent me the following pm.

No takers on removing the warning. You can ask for a review through the dispute resolution forum if you wish.

Having re-read the Thread in question and the PM's and indeed your history of Warnings, it is quite clear to me that your Warning was indeed warranted.

Looking at a post in isolation is sometimes not enough and a broader view needs to be added to see the background, as is the case with this post.

Your detest for other big clubs is abundantly clear, as your posts clearly show - in fact your last 0 point Warning could welll have been a 1 point Warning and a 6 Month Ban - which was pointed out to you by the very same Mod. They decided to give you some grace instead.

You constsntly try to defend Mancester City and deflect from them but say you are not a fan of them. This has been said to you on thread several times by several posters - so please don't say you are 'simply misunderstood', you are not. While the post in question mentions Manchester, anyone that reads the Soccer Forum knows full well that you post Religiously regarding City - saying that ' you had moved on' is disingenious in every poossible way - but apparently 'it is beyond you'. All you care about is the small clubs apparently

Being a fan of any particular club is not a problem in the Soccer Forum, never was, never will be.

However, 'Bad Faith' posting is exactly what the Mod told you and I would agree with them.

    The Warning and Ban stands.

Kindly review your posting style upon re-joining the Soccer Forum, in particular posts like the one you received the 0 popint Warning for. You will not get any leniency the next time with suich a post.

While you may not be happy or agree with the above, it is my opinon.

Would you like an Admin review on the issue?

This is not true, can you show me a post where I defend City? I say in nearly every post that I don't like them and agree that they have broken rules. Where I differ is that I believe they will never be punished because they have an endless supply of money to keep things in court until their opposition runs out of cash. I believe that's how things will go and then they'll agree to pay all costs and accept a huge fine to end things.

Is there anything wrong with me giving my opinion on this?

Being a fan of any particular club is not a problem in the Soccer Forum, never was, never will be.

I'm not a fan of any Premier league club. I don't like the bigger clubs because they have so much money the smaller clubs don't stand a chance of having success. People got annoyed when I said I wouldn't shout for those bigger clubs over City. I never said I'd support City over the other clubs either. Fact of the matter is all these clubs have had huge success because of money just like City. The only difference is the nefarious means involved in City's cash and transfers.

However, 'Bad Faith' posting is exactly what the Mod told you and I would agree with them.

What is bad faith posting? If you are suggesting that I'm trolling or bating I'm not. If I was like that I wouldn't be agreeing with others about a lot of stuff and I do.

Just because I say that I don't like to see any of these big clubs winning the Premier league doesn't make me a bad faith poster.

I'm sure if you checked who reported my posts it's fans of these bigger clubs who can't accept that somebody doesn't like their club. I'm entitled not to like big clubs and tell people that. I'm not doing anything wrong.

Finally I'd like to add that I'm not surprised at your decision. I don't think you ever go against the moderators. I'm not saying the above with anger or annoyance, I'm just giving my opinion. I have read a lot of other appeals over the last couple of days. None of those I've read have been overturned even though some seemed very reasonable.

The fact that you decide to encompass other topics into you decision, posts that haven't been reported, shows exactly what I'm saying above.

You could at least address the post I've been warned for and remove the ban for that even if you wanted to keep me banned. The reason I was banned makes absolutely no sense. Any reasonable person can see that. I'm sure you are intelligent enough to know that the post doesn't contain any reference to Manchester City and the ban for that makes no sense.

Obviously you want to support your mods and you won't admit that.

I have no option but to accept your decision. I do feel that I'm being victimised and unfairly treated.

I haven't ever supported City, I just look on them, like I do with everything else in life, from an unbiased position. Basically I don't hate anything and I think Rebel, and maybe one or two others, are like that. The vast majority are vicious haters and out to get anybody who isn't like them.

Maybe you are not surprised by my viewpoint because you know I am correct?

Many of your assertions have been made previously - by posters who warranted their bans also - so no surprise there. I did address your post, you may want to reread my post.

Your 'unbiased opinion' is well known in the Soccer Forum - as I have also outlined.

Would you like an Admin to review or do you believe they are also going to victimise you?

It's a waste of time having anybidy else review it because it won't change.

Being given a ban for talking about clubs from three big cities having a huge financial advantage because Manchester City happen to be located in one of the most populated cities in the UK is ridiculous. City were not the reason for the conversation other than they were one of those big clubs, there was no mention of them by name or any inference made as regards them.

Obviously you can't see that, I don't understand how you relate Manchester City with that post.

Basically I'm being banned because I'm unpopular with fans of those big clubs. I wonder is the moderator who banned me a fan of one of those clubs?

I'm done with this. There is no way anybody with a decent level of intelligence and education could possibly relate my post and Manchester City.

There's no sour grapes here, I'm just being honest.

I wish you a good day.
