can they claim back their tax paid now and how to go about it?

If they are no longer employed they can make an unemployment repayment claim.

Well I don’t know if it does or not, hence me asking 🙄

if they work or or two days in a year /one or two weeks in a year and paid emergency tax, how should they claim/are they entitled to claim , this tax back?

In 2024, if a single person earns less than 18,750, then they don't pay any income tax.

(the fact that the person is a student is not relevant, it's the amount of income that is relevant)

If the person wishes to claim the income tax back, after the employment has ended, and while they are not working, I believe they submit form P50?

Otherwise, wait until 2025, and submit the normal Form 12 income tax return through Revenue MyAccount.

A student should always wait until the end of the year, which in practical terms means next February. Until the year ends, they never know what more employment (either subbing or something else during the Christmas break) wil happen.

But they should also provide their PPSN to payroll where-andwhen-ever they next get work, so the get off emergency tax and onto Week 1.
