A tortured soul who did what he had to do to protect himself and his property, against a known robber and thief. May he rest in peace

Was never the same man. Just wanted to be left alone and those cruel heartless thugs were happy to squeeze everything out if him til he snapped.

If I'm not mistaken the law was subsequently changed as a result of the Nally case to give the land or property owner more rights.

A Kerry man on once said to me his two favorite Mayo people were Enda Kenny and Padraig Nally.

at least Mayo had one man that could shoot straight 😄 pity there’s not more like him

The law was changed so that if the intruder is in the house, then the up and over may be used

However this option very explicitly does not apply to yard/land/ shed, hence the current case will be watched with interest

    R.I.P. Mr. Nally.

He stood up to a dangerous bully with previous form and was had to defend himself. A horrible situation to be forced into.

I went to college with a fella from Ballinasloe whose farm was being targeted by a small number of a certain mobile people.

What he told me was terrifying stuff, similar to the behaviour of Mr.Ward previous to his death.

The issue with the law is it doesn't take previous incidents of trespass, intimidation and threats into account. Padraig was driven demented by Ward and other parasites.

A gentle soul who ( like others) was left to suffer by the state , eventually he fixed the problem himself

    RIP.

He will be fondly remembered unlike that waste of space who went around robbing vulnerable elderly people.

RIP Padraig, an ordinary man driven to an extraordinary act by a well known scumbag, it's a pity we didn't live in a society where these inbred thugs would be locked up when they commit a crime, instead of everyone pandering to them, discrimination this, and equality that, act like a civilised humans and contribute to society and ye can have all the equality ye want. Padraig Nally made these people think twice before terrorising people in rural Ireland, at least for a short while.

Outrageous that this man spent as much as a minute in jail.

    A hero to rural Ireland.

20 years ago in Mayo there was an awful lot of rural theft. You can do a quick google search and find multiple stories of elderly people being robbed and tied up in their homes.

It has one of the lowest burglary rates in the country now. Thanks Padraig 😀

Rest in peace. A decent man.

A quote used by Haughey on his retirement which I think is apt for Nally…"I have done the State some service; they know't. No more of that".

Was going to ask was he still alive after an article about the incident showed up on my feed a few weeks ago

At least he's at peace now, he was probably never the same person after it

I'd say not. He was a quiet man who didn't want the attention generated from defending himself and his property from a thieving scumbag (and its a pity that we can still remember that thieving scumbag's name!).

However, I doubt he got any satisfaction from taking someone's life, no matter how bad that person was.

Rural Ireland would be a lot safer if we had more Padraig Nally's.

So more people armed and weapons and guns floating around in society……with people willing to use them if they feel anyway threatened…..?
